LOL, you are actually asking somebody to give you a legit win8 retail key that is supposed to be able to activate win8.1 directly on line, afraid this kind of key is still a thing of value.
Should my retail Windows 8 key I used to obtain the ISO work for installation as when I enter it I just get "This product key didn't work. Please check it and try again." EDIT: I used the generic Windows 8.1 Pro key to start the install then I assume I replace it with my retail key to activate once installed? EDIT2: Had to use phone activation but it all worked fine, thanks again for the info.
I want to download the file I need with my retail key. But I have still a question. I read that the ISO file has an ESD file instead an install.wim. Is it right ? Will the key be inside this ISO, or the key was only used to download the ISO ?
Yes Just used to download. However, the ISO will contain other, potentially personally identifiable information, so it's not suitable for sharing.
Happy waiting. SW_DVD5_Win_Pro_8.1_32BIT_Brazilian_MLF_X18-96687.ISO SW_DVD5_Win_Pro_8.1_64BIT_Brazilian_MLF_X18-96650.ISO
I added EI.cfg to the ISO so no entering key on setup, when completed I checked with slmgr /dlv, it showed the win8.1Pro generic key(not my win8 retail key). But since everybody reported a different hash, I guess until we find out the cause, people won't share the ISO.
the downloded .esd file is the same for all but the decrypted install.esd isn't also, custom-made iso definitely won't be the same
Can one download the update ISO, and then install it to a different disk or SSD instead of updating his current Win version on C:/ disk? Any problems with install or activation on another disk? Will download process mess up an existing Win7 install?
Quite interesting, the saved update installation from the store when running setup again, does not accept any installation key, not even a genuine one, whilst the downloaded GA with windowssetupbox does even accept my WMC key.
Any idea, how to overcome "Can't connect right now" message that pops up when trying to download the update?
1) This method requires a valid non-banned Win8 Pro Retail or Win8.1+Rollup1 Pro Retail activation key to download the Win8.1+Rollup1 ISO. The other method in your link seems to allow activate Win8 by KMS, and then activate Win8.1+WMC by a non-banned WMC Retail key. Not sure, if the resulting install will be fully retail or mix activated, and require regular KMS reactivation. 2) If you do upgrade from Win8 using Win8.1 Pro from MDL, it should accept previous activation key. Then you'd need to update to Rollup1. It should still retain Win8.1 activation.
