I installed Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x64 via the updater, and I don't see ANY changes. What am I missing? I expected to see a Start menu change, etc. as I'd been reading about.
Anyone have links for the language pack isos? mu_windows_8.1_preview_language_pack_x64_dvd_2362498.iso mu_windows_8.1_preview_language_pack_x86_dvd_2362499.iso Thanks!

Which way your system is activated. It only needs to enter wrong account data, even when connected to the net.
s1ave77 It only needs to enter wrong account data, even when connected to the net ace2 NOT working / Skipping for me, DISABLE / TURN INTERNET OFF is.
After entering wrong account data, at right side a yellow info text appears, where in the middle is a hyperlink (slightly camouflaged) embedded. Next after clicking the option for local account is offered.
Got mine running, 1. installed the KB update. it ran 2. rebooted to the desktop then invoked the start screen. Was presented with a banner to install 8.1 preview. 3. Ran the install, about 4 reboots and a weird message saying "setting up other stuff" 4. Booted to the start screen, clicked on desktop, right clicked on the taskbar>properties>navigation and checked the option to boot to desktop, also turned off the charms by hovering over the upper right corner. Had to disable classic shell because it and the new start button were fighting over the same spot. The start button has a right click context menu with almost every feature I would want. Over all after about 15 minutes I really like the improvements. Also I am enjoying the metro menu more after setting it to show the apps view. I have really enjoyed windows 8 after making some changes but 8.1 negates the need for some of those changes. Give it a chance if you were a skeptic of 8.
