how does one view downloads in immersive ie 10? after closing the download progress bar at the bottom, the only way to check is to view the downloads folder. for that matter, can one call the menu bar in this immersive thing?

I'm not currently on 8 to check, but you can alternatively use the Desktop view, one of the buttons on the right side has the option, click it, should have a entry called "desktop view" or something similar, press that one. ~.~

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

    Can't install from USB

    Hi,

When I try to install it from the USB, after the first usual windows I get a window saying:

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

    And three buttons for BROWSE-OK-CANCEL

Browsing my drives is useless whatever partition or folder I choose.

Can somebody help? I just can't install it.

Note: I used Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool as always for installing Windows from the USB key.

    Thanks.

EDIT: OK I managed. I found the solution somewhere else. For others with the same problem, in my case what worked was to enter the BIOS on startup and change the order of the startup devices, making the CD/DVD drive to start first, before the USB and before the HDD.

    Thanks.

    Brightness always at the maximum

    Problem:

I can't change the brightness. It is always at the maximum (making me blind by night). It just doesn't work when I try to lower it.

This laptop (Samsung R519) has this same problem with Linux that I solve with some trick. I installed Samsung's software called Easy Display manager, which works well in Win7, but it's not working here.

Anyone knows by any chance any possible solution to this?

    Thanks.

Correct graphics driver installed? If so, try to uninstall the monitor driver and restart the pc (yes, monitor driver, not graphics). This helped me fix a similar issue on Windows 7.

It's for when you are on 3G, so you use as less data as possible. It'll likely cut down content on webpages and cut-off windows update and background internet services.

Actually that was a smart move on MS's part. With AT&T, Comcast, and others starting to cap data. Metro UI apps would die on the vine in that enviroment with bandwidth being used willy-nilly :D

Salzzz i think that your problems come from W.Connection...is reducing data usage and the resource solicitation....maybe if you not enable that option will be the solution...?

Thanks. I'm done with Win8 and I am going to uninstall. I don't like it. Nothing new other than the Metro & Ribbon annoying stuff.

Plus a nice surprise... I installed W8 in another partition and run Security Essentials. When I came back to Win7 in the first partition, it has been detected as not original copy and I will have to reinstall it all unless I find a cure...

    Thanks.

EDIT: I run Windows Loader 1.9.7 and it apparently worked again. The not-original-copy thing is gone.

I was going to uninstall but I am giving it a longer try. So I tried to unistall the monitor driver and restart the PC as you suggest, but it didn't work.

    Any more ideas?

    Thank you very much.

I have been searching for hours and there doesn't seem to be a solution. It kills the eyes.
