Ah, so I guess this build, unlike the one shown yesterday, doesn't have it built in yet. Good to know though that MS is finally doing the right thing and giving us a *real* "Windows Defender" (unlike in Vista/W7), which is how Sinofsky referred to it several times. On the topic of virtualization, specifically on Hyper-V, I still can't figure out how to get the "charms" to display over on the right side of the screen. With touch, it'll appear if you swipe inward from the right, but what about a mouse? That and the inability to close an app except via Task Manager are making things difficult.
How do you get the tile overview (Like when they pinch to zoom on the tablets) to view all tiles and name the groups with keyboard and mouse?
anyone got any of these ????? en_visual_studio_11_developer_preview_x86_x64_dvd_735784.iso en_dotnet_framework_4.5_developer_preview_x86_x64_735777.exe en_windows_developer_preview_sdk_wdk_x86_x64_734757.zip
regedit same issue for me! boot up with windows7 (or boot from win7 DVD/stick), open regedit & load (not import) software regtree, change the value back to 1. reboot and enjoy your windows8 with metro UI again.
I have vmware 8 and tried numerous time and keep coming up at the setup with this error: Windows cannot read the <ProductKey> setting from the unattend answer file. so what your settings to set up to work on vmware 8?
How do I load regtree? I'm opening regedit in command prompt but it does not show RPenabled. I freaking turn off the system restore so can't restore it.
you have to load the Hive then you can browse it, edit it and boot back into w8 the Hives are in C:\Windows\System32\Config (you obviously want to use the path to your w8 install ;P), not sure which hive is the one that contains the RPenabled entry, didnt bother checking, you might want to google for a hive mounting tutorial so you know what you are doing, just in case ;d
Note that it may prompt for a product key if the installation media has an issue, such as a CD-ROM with missing/corrupt files. My DVD burner is picky and the first disc I burned at 16x asked for a key. I usually have better luck burning DVD-Rs at 8x. The disc I burned at 8x installed the Win 8 preview without a hitch, and didn't prompt for a key. Network & audio drivers? That's a different story. I'll have to see if I can get them working at a later time.
It won't let me save the key saying "process cannot access the file because it is used by another process". Oh well i'll just reinstall.
no need to save, just unload the hive you named temporary before not the whole key from the running windows7 installation!
