Another huge update I did another big update. This time Windows To Go and update of themes was done. From the next update I'll start marking versions of Win8Mods pack. Pack size increased to 352MB
Can't install? Have to wait for Win8 SP1. Is it possible to copy the installation files to the REFS disk and install windows?
MS never enables all features of FS and PartitionSystems when they release it. It was same with GPT (GUID), NTFS, extFAT... etc. System drive shouldn't contain the important user-data which are critical to backup, so it isn't big loss actually.
Interesting thing is, that I found a html-file as first readable file, what seems to be a bacardi-page ... and I did not use the disk before and didn't visit this page for sure, so I think I will have to check my other new disk drives right before I use it and check if I got more used drives ... VMware-Player only allows to use RAW-Disks up to 2TB ... ... still have an empty 60GB SSD maybe I will install Server 2012 for fun on it
Where does this information originate from? Is it announced officially somewhere or is it leaked build rumours?
I've read it somewhere at "Building Windows 8 Blog", what is MS web. Did you tried Oracle VirtualBox? It is also free as VMware Player, but IMO far better.
moderate, what's the deal with integrity.exe? You need it to verify the integrity streams if not running a Storage Space mirror volume, correct? Do you think you could package it up and make it downloadable?
That utility is deprecated and now it isn't included in Windows 2012 Server RTM (neither in x64 or x32 System directory).
Check copied files and presence of imported registry keys (it is enough to check key-folders for the beginning), type: format <disk:> /u /fs:ReFS (replace <disk:> with target drive as D: for example)
After the another update the pack has reached version v1.0... Beginning with the next release, there will be changelog available... Here are actual included themes:
Update to v1.1: Now you can start Immersive Control Panel from your desktop shortcut: Separate pack for special shortcuts is now provided...
It seems that Google Drive folder can't be created at ReFS (and maybe FAT32) volumes. Also Google Picasa folders can't be managed on ReFS drive. :/ Well, Dropbox is far better anyway.
Moderate, can you include in your package (just for convenience) the deduplication stuff (with an installer, of course) ? It's yet present in another thread, i know...
A lot of stuff doesn't seem to work with REFS or even exFAT. Moderate, any interest in ripping RecImg.exe from Windows 8 for use in Server 2012? I'm currently using Windows Server Backup, but just wondering.
