I wont be recommending this update to friends or family for quite awhile. My x64 update fiasco started when I decided to update my v1709 W10 x64 to v1803 using WU (note: my x86 update was a success) on test rig 2. The DL & install went smooth even though it restarted the process 2x... but after that portion was finished & I hit the 'Restart' button to complete the update, the update fell apart & had to 'Restoring previous version on Windows' when message appeared (after a blue screen). The PC wouldn't boot even though I tried 'Startup repair' 3x w/ 2 different versions of W10. Luckily I dual boot so I was able to boot into another Windows OS & move the folders to storage drive that I wanted to save. Then I installed using a DVD I created w/ the MS Media Creation tool. That install only took 21 minutes & after updating w/ WU & CU (.48) all is good again. *Long story short... sometime the update succeeds & sometimes it fails.
I thought about doing it via registry since the selection wasn't important to me (I needed it set to never) where should I look in group policy though?
Code: Computer Configuration-> Administrative Templates-> Windows Components-> Data Collection and Preview Builds-> Toggle user control over Insider builds -> select Disabled
Isn't that related to being in the "Insider program" and installing new insider builds etc buy not with feedback data collection settings?
This will disable access to the "Windows Insider Program" settings but also make setting selectable in "Feedback frequency"
Do you know if there is a reason that this update seemed (at the time at least) to only be available through manual download and install? I had 3 different RS4 machines claim to be update to date more than a few hours after I read that this update was available.
