So to create an ISO from 8.1 I needed Win ADK or something, so what exactly should I download and install?
About this. I've seen people reporting that it actually does not remove the "Managed by Windows Insider program" setting. However, is there somebody that is actually on the Release "ring", i.e. not Insider, that installed 17134 cleanly, no upgrades, then allowed it to update to 17134.5? Maybe if you're not on the Insider rings the patch allows that setting to be changed normally without registry "hacks".
Did it in VM all the same https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...4-1-pc-fast-slow-rp-rs4_release.76889/page-54
Did a clean install of 17134.1 from a iso made with media creation tool self host, used my microsoft id at installation (I am not enrolled in the insider program), and "managed by windows insider..." in settings still appears to me. 17134.5 did not appear when I clicked update, i had to install the .cab manually with cmd. afterwards the settings were the same, same "managed by windows insider...". So I don't know what the heck this update is supposed to do, but it does not remove insider specific markers...
That's what I did as mentioned in my previous post prior to yours. It seems to behaving issue with legacy but works on EFI.
Thanks, I assumed so, but it's really nice to have confirmation. This exact thing happened to me (and probably many others) with 17133.1, the CU to .73 had to be installed through powershell since on the release ring you wouldn't get any update through the normal WU avenue. I hope that we'll get another CU on the 30th to get rid of that setting that installs through WU normally. Kinda bored with Microsoft dragging around for so long with this, all I wanted was a new, clean Windows install for the next 6 months until RS5.
I feel you, I have a new system and tested a bunch of bios settings and OC's on the prior windows, had some blue screens of death because of that, and was really looking forward for a clean, fresh install after all the testing. I know I could've waited until monday for official ISO or Media creation tool that gives the new version, but I wanted to get it over with today, so i can enjoy some games in the weekend. Problem is I received a BSOD already while installing some programs. And I abuse the restart button every time I'm installing stuff, is not like i did all the drivers and apps in one session... that's what you get for being an "early adopter" sort of speak. Next release will be installed after at least a month or two after being GA
As said in the beginning even MCT will download the 17134.1 ESD to create the ISO . That won't change with GA.
I used that tool, but it keeps saying language or version currently is not supported (as upgrade) by this tool. I am running 17133.73. I can (from ISO) do an install but have to install all apps again, pain in the ring.
Yeah I am still resisting the install I've put it on a USB already, cause yeah, I know it's 99.9% that this is the same as what will be made public on April 30. But 17133.73 is stable for me, although for 3-4 days MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe crashes likes 5 times/day... something it didn't do at all in the past - it's just something in the background that I only notice in the Event Viewer/Reliability History. But no BSODs or other stability issues. So I just slapped some hard discipline upon myself and am gonna wait until the 30th - or whenever it appears on the Microsoft site/MCT without external products.cab.
