I open Computer and C says it only has about 15 gigs free, but as you can see in the images everything else say that I'm only using a bout 88 gigs out of 279 available. I have done a preboot defrag, I have checked each of the main folders on C by hand and all totaled come up with just about 88 gigs used. On a side note I uninstalled AGV Internet Security because it was eating up 59 gigs of space with it's log files, but once I rebooted even though all of AVG was gone there was no change in how much space windows was saying is being used. I can simply rerun windows and reinstall my programs and do my tweaks, but i'd like to avoid that if possible. any ideas and or help would be greatly appreciated.

the partion image is non-usable can't make out any of the important info..

    1) what is the drive size?
    2) How much of the drive is partitioned for C:\
    3) How is the rest of the drive partitioned?

    o.k.
c unpartitioned 279 gigs usable and 15.2 gigs are free, but like i said everything else says i'm only actually using 88 gigs leaving 191 free. a side note the only partitioned drive is my 1tb drive as universal backups, documents - wallpaper, vmware.

your not answering the questions but if you want to use all of the drive you have to expand C:\ to be as big as the drive size minus the 100mb reserved partition if your using Windows 7

c isn't partitioned at all. it is 300 gigs before formatting, and 279 gigs after formatting. i've include a archive with the images. i would of used the uploader here but it kept freezing. just remove the spaces.

no i'm not trying to get more drive space. what i'm trying to do is get windows to report the correct amount of drive space being used. rightclicking and selecting all in c and going to properties says i'm using 88 gigs out of 279. 3 programs also tell me i'm using under 100 gigs out of 279. but open computer and there it say only 15.2 gigs free out of 279 gigs.

JiggSaww once i had a simulare problem, but by me it used about 100 GB space and i didn´t even know where it was,i scanned everything for viruses trojans but no results.
I thought maybe someone hacked my PC and took some Gb away,so i formatted my drive and there it was everything back to normal.
I tried all kinds of stuff but without succeso_O:confused:

the second image is windirstat. i tried sevenforums, but can't register. all you get is a page saying they are having problems. one of the first things i do is set windows to show all files, and turn off system restore.

    Jiggsaww have you tried this:

Go to where your C: Drive is, than right click on it and go to properties, after that go to tools and than click on Error-Checking.
I don´t know i´ve already tried all kinds of this stuff but none of them worked only formatting restored it as it should be.

what about running sfc /scannow ,maybe one of your system files or component is corrupt since you say that every other program says the correct amount of disk space used/left?

On an elevated command prompt, what is the output of "vssadmin list shadowstorage" for C:\? (just copy/paste, no need to screenshot).
And to clear things up, all your drives need to be partitioned. The partition table may only contain one entry (for C:\), but it still is partitioned.

Also, your text formatting here sucks.

100, i said above that c only has one partition, so yes i know it's partitioned. as for my formatting my post nothing wrong with it.
