So I did a stock build, and it works. I've been trying to integrate the 5eraph update pack with the drivers. I'm not sure why that breaks it. Do you know why?
I think SD+MMC (eMMC drives) and USB3x should have txtsetup.oem files for use with computers that have eMMC or can only boot from USB.
Feel free to create them. Don’t forget for KMDF addon. P.S. XP2ESD users don’t need them as there is used different drivers integration mechanism.
I actually initially put that I'll try making those files, but I kinda have no clue what to put in it or how to deal with multiple infs and all that, so I removed it from the post.
Yeah, but they're controlled by the USB driver. Using the custom driver, these are broken, using stock 2.0, they work.
It's been several months, but as I managed to get some more concrete info on the probable cause of this, I felt the need to make an update. Recently, to get to the bottom of this, I have tried 3 solutions for AHCI: Mov AX's storahci, Kai Schtrom's storahci, and the win7 amd_sata driver patched for XP. All 3 faced the same issue of being incapable of handling >2TiB drives, and all 3 shared the same common denominator: storport.sys. As I know atapi and UniATA simply overflow and read >2TiB drives just fine otherwise, I have a reasonable degree of confidence that something within storport.sys is preventing the drivers from being able to handle >2TiB drives. Is it a fix in there that messed up the ability to read drives that break the 2^32 threshold in (512K) sectors? Whatever it is, "fixing" that issue will allow for storahci/amd_sata to be able to handle >2TiB drives again, with the Windows Server 2003 disk.sys/partmgr.sys + Paragon GPT Loader being able to handle the rest. Any help would be appreciated, as I sadly don't know how to pull such a fix myself. If anyone wishes to ask more about it, I'll be glad to assist in any way.
hello, is anyone able to backport the hd audio driver from windows 7 as a test? everytime i install any version of realtek hd audio driver, i get instability issues in windows xp. im on a haswell system (i5 4460). HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0900 Symptoms after installing driver: 1. windows explorer having a delay to load folders and drives after 2 or more seconds of inactivity. 2. increased load/unload cycles in smart data from hdd. 3. windows xp freezing and causing lag with certain applications.
installing hd audio driver from windows xp instead of the realtek driver gives me no audio but symptoms are back (turns out it may not be a realtek driver issue). is this problem specific to my pc or is anyone else with haswell or higher having the same issue? i have another issue with windows xp where the polling rate spazzes out up to 8khz randomly when its supposed to be constantly 125hz. this seems to cause terrible mouse lag especially with games. using hidusbf or a polling rate overclocker alleviates the mouse lag but the problem is not fixed, it still goes up to 8khz randomly. apparently, this bug is introduced in motherboards with x58 chipset or higher according to some old forum post. in windows 7, i dont have this issue at all. Update:forcing windows xp to use only 1 core seems to alleviate the symptoms including freezes and drive issues but performance is worse and problem still exists with the polling rate but just a lot less rampant. this may be a timer issue.
Don't have the time and interest to maintain this thread anymore. I think it's easier to create a new thread and close this one.
How to install a USB 3.0 driver at WinXP SP2 64-bit because what I have now is probably not driver: I installed the driver using the Update driver clicking on xHCI, I think it installed but my USB 3.0 Kingston stick is still connected using the EHCI controller (2.0) - sits in the blue port on the motherboard. Maybe my pendrive is not USB 3.0 and only has a blue USB connector and work only on USB 2.0? How to check? This is my pendrive: Edited: ====== OK, the pendrive is already operating in USB 3.0. I had to change the Intel xHCI Mode from Smart Auto to Enabled in the bios: Edited: ===== I am trying to check if the pendrive actually works at a speed of 3.0 but I have an error in Crystal Disk Mark:
