ok, so far, i have just said forget it, i've recovered a few docs and decided that i should just start from scratch. My win 7 (downloaded from repository link) still isnt booting, i've deleted all my partitions, leaving me with just one big empty space. I've split that, now i have 1 partition and 1 unallocated space partition. Formatted the first (C: drive) Reburnt Win 7 (just incase first burn was bad). It still wouldnt boot.

Then, I downloaded XP SP3. That installed perfectly fine. Then I tired the Win 7 once more, and its still a no go, which I really dont understand because everything is working fine now.

Frisbee- That option was complete out the picture, as I only have 1 computer with SATA, my others are IDE. Thanks tho buddy.

Urie- I think I just found your mod/link to a Dell Inspiron 530 (the other guys links didnt work: Yen, busykid, etc.) but i was wondering should flash the bios while im still on xp, or could i wait until im really setup back on W7 again? If im not mistaking, do you have a 530 yourself? Or it was just a project you decided to take on?

Just for what its worth, if XP CD will boot, but not Win 7 DVD, could be your media isnt liked by burner
You could just buy some Verbatim 16X in store - dont buy online.
You have to look at label in small print and see where its manuf
India, China, Phillipines etc. - must say Taiwan
    Try +R and -R
And burn at 4X (slow) with UltraIso sw, and check the verify box

good call, but i've been using TK (-R), and I've never had a problem with them. Plus, I burned 2 copies at 4X on 2 different burners. NEC & TOSHIBA. Whats really weird is they (WIN 7) will load up fine on my other machine (e-machine). Cant figure it out, but I will try the (+R) by MAXWELL and FUJIFILM. Still have a couple of those laying around all dusty.

Ok, on my Dell Inspiron 530, cant burn no disc (power area full & calibration error, the pc which wont boot windows) altho I've tried different media and disabled the imapi service as well. I will buy a disc cleaner (with the brushes) as a last resort before I rule out that the drive is faulty. I have not tried the different disc on my emachine altho im confident it will burn, i just dont know if it will boot up off them tho.

what do you mean you have got to try and see if it will boot off them, you can boot into windows 7 setup and cancel no harm done , by the way did you flash your bios yet to slic 2.1 ? :)

urie- i know im a noob, but not the ultimate noob, lol. My apologies for not being extra specific, but yea, i know xp goes on cd (less than 700mb) and vista & w7 goes on dvd (usually 2-3gb) lol. As far as not knowing if my emachine will boot off them, i've burned several copies of w7 on both my dvd-burners, and I know one of them will boot, but I havent tried all of them.

Oh, and to answer your question, no, i have not tried the flashing my bios yet. When I first joined here, thats when I was really hype about it, and did most of my reading on the subject, and really havent since then. But from what I think, it should really be a piece of cake. I say this because I have an android phone, and i've had to do the same with it to flash custom kernals, so it should be relatively the same process. Swap out the original file, with the custom and flash, essentially right? If not, i will aggravate you to help, lol.

But speaking of flashing 2.1, I also wanted to include the ability to unlock it so i can overclock it if i dont have to do too much to actually over clock it, or dont have to invest in other fans & parts right now. So if my stock fan can handle going from 2.4ghz to 3.0, then I will do it! :)

also be aware some mobos CAN'T boot a legitamte win 7 DVD due to the boot image being more than 4 sectors.. I have run into this situation on a few occasions, I had to create a custom w7 installation disk.. I used a genuine image and replaced the boot with that from a vista install disk.. I found the easiest way is to use ultra ISO..

Urie- i have done that. Reformatted my usb stick to fat32 with the link u just posted above. I've copied the files onto it as well, i restarted the computer, selected to boot from the usb stick and this is what i get:

No boot device available, Press ENTER key to retry
    sata-0 installed
    sata-1 none
    sata-4 installed
    sata-5 none

    UPDATE:

I went into bios, and selected the usb 1st, then cd drom, then hard disk,
    now im getting a

    boot from cd :
    boot from cd :
no boot device available, press enter to retry
then the "sata" drives setup from above.

lol, NO, u never said that, lol. ok, so i tick use the internal ms-dos system files, then after that is done, then add your other files in there after that?

    UPDATE:
I assumed so, so I went ahead and flashed, it took maybe 7 seconds, my pc is rebooted, i intervened, set to load defaults, removed floppy, rebooted, and now im back up, but when i go to system activation, it still says i have 28 days left?

so what now? click "ACTIVATE WINDOWS NOW"? or click "CHANGE PRODUCT KEY"?

From what I assume, I should hit activate windows now? and insert a dell key, and I should be good to go right?

    UPDATE:
nevermind, im reading part 6 in the repository guide,
