this time, it restarted again back to my original boot menu (perculiarly i've lost my default settings, timeout and default etc) but the drive never got assigned a drive letter. You can see it in diskmgmt.msc though. You're right i should probably just throw in the towel, i'm usually okay with my bootloaders and stuff
i don't think so, I burned it with the windows image burner and had it verify the data also. my next option is to boot from a VHD that will live on that partition... won't have time for a couple of days though
I am running dual boot win 8 / win 7. I loaded from boot, dvd and on a 150gb separate partition. I am offered a choice AFTER the developer screen appears.. ask me if I want to choose the developer or win 7.. totally different from previous dual booting. One thing though, even after the auto boot time counted down.. I still had to select my choice, this will present a problem with me for remote accessing if there is a reboot in my absence. I shall work on that one. I was going to post a pic, but I see Alex already did,.. see post #9.
The DVD is set at first boot device, I'm booting from DVD and go to repair/startup repair. But it doesn't help. When I reboot, the screen where I can choose OS appears, I choose Windows 7 but a black screen with this message shows; File: \windows\system32\winload.exe Status: 0xc0000428 Info: The digital signature for this file couldn't be verified Btw, I have Windows 7 set as default OS.
Guys, I dual booted Windows 8 DP with Windows 7. Everything is fine, but my Windows 7 says non-genuine now. I used Daz loader. How can I reactivate Windows 7 without messing with the Windows 8 installation? Please help.
Once you boot Win 7, re-run the loader. Win 7 will remain activated afterward (check "Win"+break - or computer properties to verify). You can change the initial boot loader but I kinda like the Win 8 choice screen so I left it alone. I haven't played with EasyBCD yet, but you can try that, as well. I haven't found it necessary as of yet.
be careful with VHD...I installed win8 on a VHD...but after that win7 just failed to load although win8 worked fine.. whenever i clicked the win7 entry during boot, my lapy restarted..i ultimately ended up restoring my win7 backup and deleting win8
Lol did you ever let it boot after restart? cause thats the normal behaviour, cause the new "bootloader" is actually Windows itself.
Can we shift to Windows 7 Boot Manager from Windows Developer Preview Boot Manager? I made a VHD Installation of WDP. But I have to wait almost 1 min to select an OS. PS: Sorry for bad English.
y LOL??? i did let it start...all it does is throws a blank screen, then restarts my lapy and i get the win7 boot repair, which does nothing in this case
are you able to login onto windows 7?? i installed win8 on a vhd and was unable to login to win 7, as i posted earlier
Solution is super simple... EasyBCD 2.1 (for free) -> Edit boot menu -> Earlier version of win -> check... and thats it
@drsood: I can log on to Win7. @otherside: Is it for me? (Shifting to Windows 7 Boot Manager) Edit: I switched to the Windows 7 Boot Manager.
My setup: 1 harddisk, 2 partitions. - Windows 7 sp1 (primary) - data (primary) Converted data from primary to logical with easeus partition manager (freeware). I shrunk data partition for 30 GB´s, installed windows 8 on the empty space. After restart it will automatically give you the choise to boot up in win7 or win8. No need to change the bootentries with easybcd or commands.
