I've installed Windows 7 x86 by DVD drive but, once installed neither of my DVD drives will read anything!
Drivers are present in Device Manager without any yellow marks and drives show in explorer as DVD RW drives (although originally only as CD drives until I turned driver control off)
If I have a disk in the drive it slows down everything Win 7 does until I hit the eject button the everything goes ahead as normal
    Any ideas anyone??

    What else did you install?
I am sure you put some CD/DVD related software (I had this problem with some older version of VirtualCloneDrive)
Or some CD writing software? (like Gear or something that used Gear drivers)

Try checking your DMA settings? I had a similar issue with Vista on my old pata dvd drive and had to manually set it to UDMA-2 in the bios.

Have you tried using the reset jumper in your BIOS. That can clear certain types of hardware issues.

There seems no apparent problems in bios - still sees both drives and will boot from them.
Both drives were fine in Vista
Will check DMAs when back at that computer later
