The only way I could get my Asus X53Z DVD drive to work, was to change the bios setting from AHCI to IDE. Nothing else worked for me...
Aio did that not working. Change bios configuration, nothing. Cannot give a different letter, it''s not there. Same thing for WindowsGeek. So i have two option, actually, 3. First i go get an hammer .... Second forget about it and buy a usb dvd. Third i jump from the nearest bridge near my home. So if you don't hear about me.... mean i choose the 3th option. Thank you guys for all your help. Lievre hum where are my keys for my car....
what strange is hes DVD drive is working....on boot up if he select boot option and hit boot from dvd it works....so hardware cant be bad....must driver issue....the only thing u can do is go back to win 8.1.....i find it strange that the win10 generic driver does not work for hes device.
Usually for replacing a Dvd in a laptop, so easy, one screw and it's done. On this :fuyou31: laptop you have to unmounted almost everything from the bottom and then unscrew the keyboard and under the keyboard you have 2 screw for the DVD. A .... pain in the b Less problem to buy a usb dvd. Lievre
I've got "several" optical drive I can see from where I'm sitting and in the last two Years I think I burned 3 discs. Like the 8-teack, cassette, and floppy, the DVD is on the way out. On most custom builds people have been opting out of a DVD drive and just spending the money on USB drives. I still install a few Blu-Ray drives but a Blu-Ray drive for a laptop is pretty expensive. I buy the "Cheapo" Kingston 120GB SSDs when the price drops to around $50.00 U$ and with the caddy in My laptop I can easily swap from booting Win 7, 8.1, 10, OS-X etc. The stock mechanical is a Clone of My Win 8.1 daily driver with the rest of the drive partitioned as storage. Better option than grabbing a hammer or jumping off a bridge
To rule out hardware failure or general OS incompatibility I suggest booting to a WinRE command prompt ("reagentc.exe /boottore" and reboot). If it works there it's going to be just a driver issue on your current install.
