Hi Guys, I am thinking about getting a new electric razor. I am wondering which type you use when it comes to rotary and foil razor? Usually, I use rotary head. For those of you who have foil, what do you think of them and what brand do you use? Is it hard to replace foil head? What is your overall opinion on the razor you use and which ones you can recommend plz.

    TIA

I'm going to monitor this thread because I'm also in the market for a cordless electric shaver.
I've been using Gillette disposable razors and shaving cream for a long time and would like to make the switch.

myself been using razor blades my whole life, no charging needed no new blade you just sharpen it a bit once in a while.

Tried few times one of those modern electric shavers, shaved face once but i always had to use razor to make it better as you cant get anywhere you need with electric one. then i forgot to charge it once if i didnt have my old razor i would be left unshaved.
those new electric shavers they're good for women men real ones should stick to proper razor blades.

I've used Philips Norelco electric shavers forever. However I'm also wanting to review my choice. I need a new razor.

There is no such thing like the best electric razor, there is the best razor for a definite kind of beard/skin, and usage habits.

In general Philips (rotary) are better at catching longer hair, so they work better if you are used to shave each 2/3/4 days.

Braun stile razors work better when you shave each day, and usually they cut the hairs closer to the skin, closer to what a traditional blade razor does.

Recently there is a new contender the Philip One Blade, which is a mid way between an electric razor and a trimmer, I must say it works very very well, albeit it doesn't cut the hair as close to the skin as a classic electric razors (especially Braun style).

Personally I use the one blade to do the job, and eventually I use an old style razor as a finish pass, but mostly I use the OneBlade alone. (I see there are cheap Chinese clones on ebay, never tested them, and I don't mind to)

I've looked into 'one blade' in the past. Looks interesting. The Braun is way too expensive for me. I see $400-$500 price range. I know there are cheaper versions, but they most likely give a "cheaper" shave also.

I can't tell for Brown, but for Philips I must say that my old Tracer, paid in 1988 the equivalent of today's 40 euro, works way better than his nephew, bought few years ago, which comes wit a huge amount of tecnobabble (micro groove, double action heads, wet and dry and whatever), and priced accordingly.

My idea is that both Philips and Braun, each Christmas need to come out with some "innovations", no matter if effective or not, to trigger some sales.

The point is electric razors aren't PCs or smarphones, there is a point when the technology is not perfectible anymore, unless something revolutionary kicks in.

And the OneBlade is something of a revolution, albeit in principle isn't that different than a old style trimmer/haircutter.

Perhaps is a perfect sample of how a perfect product should be in a capitalistic world: it's good for the end users (because it's practical, precise, it hurts the skin less than a traditional electric razor...), but also for the company given the blades are supposed to be replaced each six months or so (they last more in my experience), they are consumables, while traditional heads usually last years, they are more spare parts than consumables.
