    You could use bios mod as LatinMcG, has suggested he has given really good instructions.

    @urie at least we know its the hard drive now so what should i do format it and put windows 7 back on it our back it up and leave xp on or have another read what latinmcg as written thanks.



    ps ive read latinmcg,s post again that will not work will it if hd as gone?im tempted to put windows 7 on it again its on usb plus ive got dazs loader thanks.

    That is your choice as for XP is it activated if it came from another brand of machine it won't be unless it is VLK version and even them VLK keys can and do get blacklisted.

    @urie the hd that ive just put in this emachine em350.came out of a emachine em350 1 had windows on it the other had xp activated on it.so if i was to leave it with xp on it and not touch it is there anything ealse i should do to it. ie will it update with xp updates and will the drivers be the same ie camera wifi and lan settings if it can run with xp i will leave it as it is thanks.

    Yes once updated e.c.t make an image then you can do what you like and you will have a backup :biggrin:

    thanks urie all updates are done now i will do a back up with paragon.should i use backup and recovery will that give me a image plus files or should i use advance intreface i need a image plus files whicn 1 will do it thanks.

    kennyboy, sorry I can't advise you on such things you need to make up your own mind as to what suites you best I don't use paragon I use acronis. I did have paragon free version installed just to test out how to register it so I could advise you. But what ever way I would check to see if you already have an XP recovery partition if so you may to back up whole drive.

    thanks urie as far as i know there is no XP recovery partition unless its somewhere i dont know.ive been in accseesorys and i cannot see back up in there so im not sure how to make a image on a external drive and save files any advice please thanks for your help.

    When you install paragon and run it if you have recovery partition you should see it or try right clicking on computer in explorer and select manage then go to Disk Management it may show it.
