Thanks for the tip - I'll add that to the next build which I'll try to get out very soon.

    Simple add info, possible correct:
If data 'build' and 'update' in Hypervisor1 == in Nypervisor2 and one of them bootstate != 0 -> not boot thit Hypervisor, boot only if other is (possible) bad.

I sent you a PM on Sunday with a link to a new build to test! You're probably running a pop-up blocker :)

    ok, billd not work: hotfile.com/dl/72309820/04f4df2/output.rar.html
    Finished yesterday quick fix:
    1)copy all files from H1 to H2
    2) get,modify,put
    3) copy all files from H2 to H1
reboot - good, my modify bios work in new build.
Current, all files boot.cfg is identical !

The errors you are seeing are down to a locked file or folder I think. Did you have an shell session open on one of the temp folders while you were using the tool?

Did you run the tool after you made H1 = H2? It's a shame if you did because it's tricky to test if it's working.

Oh, in my datastore exists bad file/index tmp in 0 byte and visible _only_ in Veeam Backup, or console:
    Code:
    /vmfs/volumes/4c215666-f126ea0b-9b42-002655555c12 # ls
ls: ./tmp: No such file or directory
    TestSBW vmvisor-sys

I will try to remove the next weekend.
Don't panic, - all previos H1 and H2 backup. ;-) After remove 'tmp', restore and check again in the next weekend.

Can we 'sticky' this thread? Is it bad form for the op to ask? o_O

Even previous version 1.1.2 works fine with latest vSphere 4.1 update01 (and the BIOS is exactly the same as 4.1 & Workstation 7.1.3)

I am still amazed at simplicty of this tool, thanks again pix!

    Hello to all,

I'm using this tool (both on Xp sp3 and Win7x64) to try to extract bios440.rom from vmware-vmx.exe file of VMware Workstation 7.1.2 build-301548 installed on a Win7x64 pc, but it fails with this output:

    -----------------------------------
    Getting bios440.rom from local file
    -----------------------------------
Checking type of elf to get correct objcopy version and section name
    # objdump --archive-headers "C:\Users\ga\Desktop\vmware-vmx.exe"
Checking for presence of .bios440 section in file...
    # objdump --headers "C:\Users\ga\Desktop\vmware-vmx.exe"
No .bios440 section found in file
Operation failed and took 0,20 secs

    Any ideas ?

Yes, WRONG tool for the job. This one is for ESX
The OTHER sticky in this section:

    VMware Workstation (Multi-Brand) Bios Installer

    deals with workstation

Or you can extract it by hand (with any resource editor ie. XN Resource Editor):

It is embedded resource #6006 & 512Kb in size

    Thank You Sebus ! :worthy:

I have used XN R E to extract 6006 binres and it has extracted it as a 512 kb exe file. I think this is the bios rom that I need to rename and mod.

    Thank You again
