NBDMIFIT can't be used on HP desktops, only laptops are supported. Modding is also not a valid option, due to digital signatures.
Wow this was all Greek to me. Totally lost now, because some of you say it can be done while other say it can't be done. What's the truest answer? Do I wipe the drive clean or what. I had heard that you can get the Hard drive stuck on boot up if you try and convert the BIOS, so I want to be really careful with my next step.
@Jon_Snow Its better for you to install Windows 7 Professional or Enterprise and activate via any KMS emulator. But I still suggest to go for Windows 10, do a clean install & secure the lifetime digital entitlement.
Again thanks for the help. I have reformatted the drive (low Level) and then re-partitioned it. I stopped there. I don't see or can't find any threads where someone has used Win 7 pro and KMS Emulator. I also have never used a KMS Emulator and from the little I have read about it is that it only works for a Max of 180 days, so it doesn't make it permanent Win 7 OS. IS this a problem with the Hard Drive or the system config? Because I can swap out the HD and get another one in, if needs be.
There is an entire kms sub-forum under the MDL Projects section. MTK is probably the easiest to use, and it will automatically renew well before the 180 days expire. The main problem however seems to be that you have a system that is not very much compatible with Windows 7, as others have tried to point out.
Just to be clear now..... I ditched that "Glorious" Windows version. I followed the advice from others to go to MS web site and download an "Official" ISO from there.
Win 7 Pro as was suggested. Does it matter if it's 32bit or 64 bit....?? I just grabbed the 64 bit just now. Man Google Drive is quick.... even with just one of my connections using my IDM (Internet Download Mgr)
This whole thread reminds me of a time in 2002 when I bought a new laptop running WinXP. At the time, I was seriously addicted to Win98SE, so I wiped the disk drive and tried to install Win98SE on my shiny new laptop. Well, it didn't work so well, I couldn't find all the drivers I needed, etc. , and eventually I gave up and restored WinXP. Guess what, looking back, WinXP really was the better choice in that situation. For the OP here, the better choice is Win8.1 or Win10. Win10 is the best choice, it is a big improvement over 8.x on desktop machines, and it would likely install with very little pain, plus he could get a permanent digital entitlement license if he does it before July deadline. Yes, Windows 7 is a great OS, but on the OP's type of machine it is better to move ahead. $0.02
sure was.. 16 gb. all i had to do was flash bios with slic 2.1 and use slmgr.vbs /ipk and cert. issue i had with usb3 i changed in bios xhci handof to no and installed usb3 driver for Z97-HD3
And I assume you are running 32 bit Windows 7 as the only OS, booting it from a gpt disk in full UEFI mode? (no monkeying with CSM, secure boot or legacy boot settings)
the opposite.. needs x64 for efi secureboot off. but efi on and first.. in the gigabyte bios settings F2
I just wanted to say thanks for all the help. It was a byotch to install, I guess mainly because of my lack of knowledge. I eventually hooked the HD up to this PC which caused me problems later. At one point I couldn't even boot up, missing bootmgr. Found that fix but then from there down the rabbit hole of fixing one problem after another. This pc is good now I think.... As for the Hp - Envy ...I'm installing a s**t ton of windows updates. .....on this batch 180 up(chuck)dates BTW I installed Win 7 Pro and used the Microsoft Toolkit with KMS. (me thinks I did that correctly) It now shows as activated.
