    Hi All,

I have upgraded to Windows 10 Pro [from Windows 8.1 Pro, KMSPICO activated(Thanks to Dev), before upgrade i uninstalled KMSPICO so that upgrade program will not see the system ungeniune] after system got upgrade to Win 10 pro when i check, my system shows Windows 10 is activated.

And KMSPICO displays Windows 10 Detected and peremenantly activated.

In my C when i search i found two files with name install.esd of apporx 2.7 GB, could any body guide/tell me if it is possible to make/convert that isd as ISO file which can be used for clean install.

And if do clean install, will it again ask for product key and will my activation remains.

    Thanks
    BK

#1. Makes no difference if you uinstall KMSpico or not. System stays Volumed licensed and is per rules not eligable for the Free Upgrade.

#2. Activation is bound to the very first License used in Upgrade.

#3. Recommended Route: Install Win 7 Pro >> Activate with Daz Loader 2.2.2 >> Upgared from with online Win7 to Win 10 and assure it's activated.

    #4. You're good to GO!

If I read all of this right the original Windows 8 key I used which was upgraded to 8.1, then all the win 10 preview builds is now blocked as a result of upgrading to W10? Not that it really matters, I see no reason to go back to windows 8.

Actually a very good question, which is unanswered so far. MS is very tight these days.

At least Gabe stated they were working hard to provide some proper info ... he's M.I.A. since then :cool2:.

    Hi,

Thank you for the response, but I was in Windows 8.1 Pro KMS activated version, i upgraded to windows 10 from inside windows 8.1 through online, after windows upgraded to win 10 i did not use any kms tool for activating, Windows 10 got activated by itself.

Before Upgrade I uninstalled kms pico after I saw windows 10 was activated I installed kms pico to see if it's kind of 180 days or something, but it displays permanently activated.

is it like upgrade program did not detect kms activation on windows 8.1 and thought it as genuine and activated it permanently.

Or what I'm thinking is my laptop originally shipped with windows 7 ultimate ( 4 yrs old Dell XPS 17) and recently i formatted and installed Win 8.1 Pro and activated used kmspico. Though i upgraded from inside windows 8.1 as my hardware was with genuine win 7 activated windows 10 got activated without any issue without using any kms tool.

Could you guide, how i can do clean install now, can i use esd files in my C drive for clean install.
How do I convert this to iso file.

Or if you can guide me to the link which i can download and do clean install.

And when performing clean install if i skip product key entering, after installing will windows automatically detect and activate it again.

Thanks in advance for answering my questions and i'm sorry if it bothers some one for such noon ?'s

    Best Regards.

    BK

If you already have a copy then use that copy to upgrade. Mount ISO (or burn), run setup.exe, upgrade, let it activate on its own and you're done.

If we did a clean install from scratch (ISO burned on to USB Flash Drive), what is the best way to activate (Win 10 Pro)?

There was some info on the other thread saying that the KMS Toolkit 2.5.3 will not work properly for Win 10(?). Is this true?

Would appreciate some help as a noob!

    hi guys
I got a question, I updated windows 10 pro from the windows 8.1 pro with original serial key, I notice that my windows 8 serial change in windows 10 with other new serial but I see this new serial key is the Generic Product Keys provided by Microsoft for windows 10 pro , today I have updated a friend's laptop from Windows 7 ultimate to windows 10 pro I checked the new serial key and is the same Microsoft Generic Product Keys installed in my PC.
in the 2 pcs the activation is permanent, I know the activation is checked and sending from the server in the database according your bios or hardware or something like that.

but what happen if I will upgrade in the future my pc or change the motherboard and have this generic serial that I think a lot of people received the same generic serial key in the upgrade -_- ?

you would have to buy Windows 10.

Windows 10 FREE offer is only good for the device it was upgraded activated and installed on. You cannot transfer it to another computer as it is bound to that device only.

the key you are referring to is only something MS puts into the system as a place holder. Basically saying "hey we upgraded!* since all activation is done without users inputting keys now, after the upgrade.

    Howdy,

Is it possible to do an in-place upgrade of an x86 setup of Windows 7 to x64 version of Windows 10?

Windows Update upgraded x86 version of Windows 7 to the same flavor of Windows 10. This is so lame, I don't want the 32-bit Windows again.

If I convert an x64 ESD with Windows 10 to ISO, then run Windows 10 x64 setup from within Windows 10 x86, will this do the trick?

Out of curiosity, haven't found any particular solution over at MSFT.

    TIA

He can't use his win 8.1 key to "reactivate" his update? I mean he "bought" the update why can't he upgrade his hardware then?
