Certainly. Before I do though, know that if you already received the prompt then you are good to go. Alternatively, you could download the ISO, mount it and run the executable. This would start the upgrade process. Which is the same thing you are about to do through the official upgrade prompt you just received. After that both processes are the same. Let us know after you finish.
i think i will let this 1 go through as it is & do as you said on my other computer once this is done will surely give feedback as it progresses
Help please! I want to upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Education? How? If I upgrade from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Education, will it work (activated)? Thanks!
Hiyas, one question about activation, If I clean install Windows7 -> DAZ -> free upgrade to Windows 10 -> Activate -> Format C: -> clean install Windows 10, Do I need to backup Activation beore format c: or does MS know ? Also do I need some product key for this?
You do not need to backup activation before format, when you activate win10 after upgrade, your hardware info will be stored on MS server & next time when you install win10, it will activate automatically.
Found this out the hard way when I clean installed W7, OEM activated and then proceeded to upgrade to W10 from a burnt DVDR. After the upgrade... W10 was not and would not activate. So started again... this time manually installing the driver W7 couldn't find for my network card lol. (doh!)
so i seem be out of luck making Windows 7 clean install, old installation DVD for W7Ult doesn't boot if UEFI mode is selected in BIOS. On the second side if I switch to compatibility mode Win7 dvd boots but won't allow me to install OS on GPT internal drive :-( Any idea how to install 7 on GPT?
Boot in MBR and delete all old GPT partitions (including the little system partitions) on the drive (apparently spare any Data Storage one you have) so it shows as one unallocated space. Try Install again.
Try a different source / ISO image (google is your friend). Code: FILE: 7601.17514.101119-1850_x64fre_client_en-us_OEM_Professional-GRMCPRXFREO_EN_DVD.iso SIZE: 3,319,478,272 byte SHA-1: AF9FD9CA3C3D6DA67C9E8713E41CD51DF365F8D8 MD5: 4B947E727A83D3FBD51D99985D23B3BC CRC: 3C45BCBB NOTE: this is original M$ image. That will boot in UEFI mode via DVD.
How to check that hash used to identify my machine on microsoft servers for activation? How to check if they really have my hash marked as genuine / activated. If i buy new components for my rig (cpu, mobo) will there by some way to transfer license? Since i paid for software, i want to own it, not my motherboard / cpu combination. Was anybody successful by upgrading from win 7/8/8.1 activated using slic/daz/kms, and getting the activated hash on microsoft servers? Will anybody develop something that will allow all windows 10 users (with admin rights) to disable windows update? (not talking about selective updates, but at least choose build you want to update) See that M$ is doing whatever they want with their clients. Checking what you type on keyboard, using your bandwidth to distribute updates, no option to disable updates or taking away your admin rights step by step.
Learn to debug code, sniff data traffic and reverse protocols . Or wait for the things to come Win 10 RTM is pretty new. Simple, either system is activated after the Upgrade or not. If not (and it's not the usual Server-Hickup) you know it went wrong. You'll need to install old license, probably activate via phone and then Upgrade the new Machine to get a new HWID. Loads of users ... Hints and a bit to smile: Spoiler
One last quiestion on that win7 daz upgrade, it works on UEFI installation or just legacy BIOS tested?
