Well I am gonna do my best, however I will be out of town from July 25 to the 27, and will be too tired on the 27th. And also will take days to go hang out at the beach and drink.
Question 1: at present, how is it that some people here are able to have RTM already installed? leak? or insider? Question 2: lets say we upgrade from win7 to win10, i suppose we wouldnt need to key in any key, BUT after we begin doing a clean installation (especially when via unattended) is there a stage where we need to key in a product key ? if yes is it during setup or post-setup? Question 3: if i wanna get win10 enterprise, will i need win7 enterprise and it will automatically know to upgrade to win10 enterprise?
KMS is gonna blow me away...I simply only have the basic knowledge of it as I never ever used it. This will have to be a group effort.
I only mentioned the KMS thread as example for madness . I had a lot of help there from several users that kept me posted when i missed to add any info. You don't need to know that much about KMS though here, just link to the appropriate threads, that already exist. Like the Office 16 one in my sig. We'll take care of ones FUBAR there .
I avoid those KMS threads with a passion. I mean I know my way around slmgr and using KMS servers and even how to set up one...but it it not where I excel at and have to look stuff up.
As said, there are enough users that can handle it, link to the threads, if anyone is looking for help here .
So the suggestion would be to use the already existing OP as THE GENERAL HINT and add the useful links one could need to know in regards of the new system. Best would be to create some categories for Win 10 and for Office 16 link to the Stickie.
Good Idea but one issue...grin I do not have any need, any longer for office...not needed for years...I know even less where to go for Office haha. However this might works for both KMS and Office...I could create a separate areas for them, and post the questions we are having to answer over and over...with something like I will have best let someone else answer and then put the answer in. I really do not want to give partial or outdated info but those 2 things are not really my area, I am more into the guts of windows then anything. Think that would work?
Simply add the links to OP and point blind stupids (grasshoppers and elders) to READ OP. No need to discuss anything in specific here. BTW: Good work so far .
DOGGIE VOTES: STICKIE, this please. Yeah, exactly that i meant. No need to make it complicated, link to threads and posts, so the particular use can keep the thread/post up-to-date. Else you linkt to a better updated one. VOTE: Dear Administration, please make this Sticky and let the old Preview Repo sink .
Question (because I think this seems to be the right thread for it): Is it possible to do the upgrade from Windows 7 that is installed and booted natively from a VHD (in dual-boot with 8.1)? Here's the prodecure I thought of: 1) Apply the Windows 7 image to a VHD and add it to the boot loader (PC is currently running 8.1) 2) Boot from VHD and go through OOBE etc. until I get a working Windows 7 3) Upgrade to Windows 10 and ensure it is activated 4) Wipe the disk and clean install Windows 10 This way, I don't have to kill my current 8.1 installation if something goes wrong, and I can clean install 10 whenever I want. Plus, I don't want to do the upgrade from 8.1 because I have a genuine Windows 7 SLIC 2.1 in BIOS and like to use this license for the upgrade (the 8.1 is retail and I like to spare it for another machine).
I will have to research this one, as I do not know unless another member here already knows. I do not use VHD. I know the answer if without VHD but that does not help you.
