Hi guys When it's said, a clean install. it means an install from a USB or DVD from the UEFI, or an install from inside the W10 (previously upgraded from the W7)? Because when I install from inside W10 the skip option don't appear in the key insert window, in the install from the UEFI that option appear. Already confirmed this 2 times And from the UEFI install, the W10 is not activated (it was activated before in the upgraded W7 install). The W7 is ultimate, and the W10 is the Pro N. Is there any incompatibility with this 2 versions? Thanks
Folks, need some help; I wanna do a clean install using a downloaded ISO from MS on a very slow internet connection for a relative, I'd like to download as many as possible latest hotfixes and carry them on a USB. Question: In order to minimize the downloads, what files (KBxxxx's?) and where should I save for WU be able to find/recognize them after a fresh installation? TIA
Thanks for the reply, but where should I copy the files after a clean install? I mean, what folder/directory so Windows Update can pick them?
Dism can do it or you can create a batch file to launch the installation process, the same as for w8.1. depending on: 1. In an offline image in oder to have them integrated in an iso 2. Just after the installation
Ok, so no easy path like copy all KBxx's to lets say "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution"? I thought this could be easier for me with low technical skills...
So after upgrade if i want clean install do i need to wrote somewhere key from windows 8.1 to activate windows 10 after clean install?
No key to enter as M$ servers know already your HWID, activation should be automated with the same version
So, if I do: dism /online /add-package:Windows10.0-KB3074686-x64.cab dism /online /add-package:Windows10.0-KB3074678-x64.cab And then directly execute: Windows10.0-KB3081424-x64.msu, there is no need for further updates as of today? Thanks for your patience!
first create a folder in C and call it updates for exemple, copy all the cab files in it , then execute DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\updates for the msu you can extract the cab files by typing expand -F:* "path to the msu file" " path where you extract it"
Yes i know, basic question but... When it's said, a clean install. it means an install from a USB or DVD from the UEFI, or an install from inside the W10 (previously upgraded from the W7)? Because when I install from inside W10 the skip option don't appear in the key insert window, in the install from the UEFI that option appear. And from the UEFI install, the W10 is not activated (it was activated before in the upgraded W7 install).
type "Reset This PC" in windows 10 at the search bar next to the start button. Be amazed as it clean installs it for you. Save yourself the hassle of attempting to understand MS's complex and difficult task of using the skip button lol btw, Reset this PC will format your C:system drive and you will have a clean install of 10, all will be wiped from the system drive. Faster than conventional clean install too. Gday.
yes works from inside Win10, it will reboot ask you some questions, but no refresh available like win8x, only reset (Clean install).
I have Win 10 activate and if change hdd in laptop , will lose activation after clean installation on the new hdd?thanks
It has been reported and experienced, so yes. Edit: I meant as yes it will remain activated, sorry for not reading your post all the way through.
