I've been testing W10 builds on my HP Stream7 for months and its now running 10240 fully activated, but that's because it was activated through an Insiders linked MSA. I know it had W8.1 w/ Bing on it, but I also think it was the 'Single language' version. I've seen a few posts which mention a 'Home Single language' version of W10. Maybe that's the version you need to install to get it to activate p.s. Watch out for the WiFi drivers, my Stream7 can on longer find any 'N' connections.
Theres not a lot to clarify... Insiders are 'Beta Testers' and 99.9% of all 'Beta' software is 'Time Bombed' as is the case with all W10 builds released to Insiders. Activation has nothing to do with whether its 'Time Bombed' or not, its just one of the roles/features that Insiders are meant to be testing.
You are missing on key thing here Insiders have now a permanently activated edition. Will the next Insider build re-add an evaluation timer?
Had build 10130 as second OS on HDD. Other one primary is Windows 8.1 on SSD, activated by volume MAK-key through the phone. I've upgraded 10130 through USB stick to leaked W10 Pro WZT 10240 and it say's it's activated. Question I have: can I install 10240 as clean installation instead of 8.1 on SSD? Will it be activated? I've backed up activation and gonna try to restore it after fresh installation.
No I've not missed anything. Everyone has permanently activation at he moment and if you leave the Insiders Program, you'll keep that. But, if you stay in the Insiders Program, you'll get the latest (Beta) builds of W10 which will be 'Time Bombed' again. Belief doesn't come into it mate. It will be time bombed. Now, you are missing something. Windows 10 is a 'Service' now not a 'Package' which means from now on it will be constantly be updated. There will be no more 'Service Packs' So by being an Insider your testing the Windows 10 Service.
So I ended up buying one of those iView SupraPad i700QW tablets with Windows 8.1 w/Bing a few months back just for the hell of it, mainly bc it was only $35 or something like that. I was wondering if or how I could upgrade it to Windows 10? There is no data on it that I care about. It has I think like 16GB total space of which it has like 5.5GB free. How would I go about upgrading it to Windows 10? ~MC
I'm aware windows 10 is now a service, semantics here MS can call it what every they wish but "service packs" essentially will still exsit aka Redstone and others.
I am unfortunately a little confused. I use a Windows 8.1 Pro KMS enabled. Can I now take the Build 10240 v. Windows 10 to upgrade and after installation I have then an activated Windows 10?
OK, this could take a while, so I hope you have a beer and are sitting comfortably. First, I've never upgraded a 16GB tablet and from what I've hear they can be a pain, due to using slow SD cards as extra storage space. What you need: An OTG cable and/or a USB drive with the W10 ISO that matches your W8.1 version. (W10 Home, maybe Single Language) An SD card with at least 8GB of room as extra storage, because you don't have enough free space for the install on the device. What to do: Connect the USB drive with the ISO on it, Mount the ISO in Explorer and hit 'Setup' Follow the prompts. But, don't use any keys, just skip them. With luck you'll have a W10 tablet in a few hours.
I hope someone will chime in here eventually on the single language part. I'm thinking that is what has caused my activation issues on the HP Stream 7.
do this mean i have to own window 7 start windows 7 basic and windows 7 premium all to upgrade to 10?? i only own basic... its not very fair that you have to own 3 to get home guess i'll have to buy either PROFESIONAL and ULTIMATE or STARTER and PREMIUM or just buy window 10 direct
You aint no PCexpert, this is hillarious lmao. (no you don't need to own more than one copy to upgrade)
It's alarming how terrible the average post is atm. All the information anyone needs is in the stickies and every thread is filled with idiots asking how to get activated with a non legal KMS key. People that don't know rudimentary things like dism are on an experts forum asking how to do things beyond their comprehension. I'm set with my activations and have wonderful software i want to release aiding in installing\upgrading windows but i'm afraid of all the useless questions i will be asked. This is a good thread though. I didn't learn anything, but others will.
Hey buddy, you should know better ... always the same when new OS is 'released'. For me two times by now it happened. Will all calm down after a while.
Hopefully MrChris will give us the answer. I've no problem wiping my Stream7 and trying, but I don't it will help as its all ready been activated with W10 Pro.
Thanks for the tips. I plan on giving it a go this weekend. I will share my results after I give it a go this weekend. Thanks again. ~MC
