I've found compression installs a little hit'n'miss with ISO installs.

You get great results when applying through DISM, but you need to do the upgrade to get the device activation first.

 

Yeah, actually i meant for the fresh install most will do.

Just a quick question.

When will the GWX app start downloading the *.esd file, I understand that the upgrade will be offered after 29th (i.e. after the insiders) in waves to the reservees. But as the build 10240 is RTM, wouldn't it make sense to MS to just push the *.esd file to the reserving PCs and have it lie dormant, until the time that it sees fit to install, or will the *.esd file be offered after 29th (at the time of upgrade) ?

I think the date that GWX starts is the 27th

But I'm not sure

Upgrade in general will be delivered as ESD, that's the way Upgrades go since Win 8 introduction. The Upgrade process will patch the downloaded ESD up-to-date prior to the Upgrade.

 

Hmm...Let's see and hope for the best.

They might switch their minds like they always do but I guess lean towards August for GWX to start since they said its rolling in waves with the insiders first

 

Might become a nice surprise, BUT no need to promote as (nearly) fact.

 

I guess I'll just wait for the official push by M$, just to be sure

 

Just speculating...

If M$ pushes the base 10240 ESD to reservees, and on the D Day pushes the patch...

 

I couldn't find the answer to this anywhere, apologize if it has been answered already.
If my windows 7 Ultimate is activated using the SLP+SLIC method and using the public DELL OEM Ultimate serial, will I still be able to upgrade and activate to win 10 and it will be marked "genuine"?
Which version of windows 10 do win 7 ultimate users get?

i have activation windows 8.1 backup via skype , so i will install windows 8.1 and activate it by
my backup, then i will extract windows 10240 iso -to empty folder &Or mount iso,
and upgrade from win 8.1 to win10.240
- my question is - How to make clean install , later?

if i clean install , will i loss my activation ?

 

or type reset into the search bar next to the start button and "reset this pc" when done you will have a clean install and its faster than normal install.
