go to bought stuff folder.. right click.
click change up top.. add yourself or everyone .. literaly the word Everyone.. then remove rest of users in list.

disable inheritance.. keyword at 2nd pic inherited from G:

use fat32 not ntfs on usb flash..

run windows repair portable in safemode.. and it has ownership selection too.

You can waste your time, if you want, but all this has been already. Has been tried anything, but there is very little hope. Windows permissions are changed, settings damaged and you cannot find any method to restore them. The simplest and fastest way is clean reinstall.
And you know that everything is okay.

Right... and then you realize that the reinstall has done nothing with the file system permissions on non-OS volumes, and things may still not work. That would be the real waste of time...

fat32 is not recommended for usb disks. file system gets corrupted very easily.

I just started to do another clean-install, because I couldn't fix it.

Must have been a corruption somewhere, because now I can atm. access and execute stuff on the USB-Drives (again).

Will take me possibly a few day's, because I have pretty much enough for this weekend so far.

    :)

Ok, it must have to do something with Build 14905 and maybe even 14901, because I lost again permissions very early into the clean-install after one of the re-boots, before I even started installing any drivers etc.pp. and I used an untouched ISO, which was created from the WU-ESD of my system.

I will try my Custom-14393.67-ISO first, otherwise I will just restore my 14393.10-Backup and go from there.

    :tea:

    Edit:

Every Backup has now the same issues. I will try now an untouched 14393.0 - ISO next.

My wife's PC got always only upgraded for a long time now and she has now the WPD-thingy in her Device-Manager as well, so it must have been introduced by one of the Windows-Versions, but she has luckily no access-issues (yet).
