    I'm trying to figure out why when I open a boot.wim file with Poweriso then look for some files small in size, but Poweriso says they have a filesize of 0 KB. Then I extract them and have no data within (obviously as they are 0 KB) and at the same time mounting boot.wim with dism the files looks normal (1-5 KB) and have data in them.

    It's worth mentioning those files are custom. They are not original or pertaining to the original boot.wim file.

    That simply could be auto created files by startup the boot.wim file, which maybe just temporary exist and get deleted while end the process. May you check out the time stamp of those files: they're all times the same or changes?!

    What about extracting with dism? 7zip?

    Well, as I already mentioned, I mounted boot.wim file and I can see correct filesize then manually copy them to desktop and they are normal, i.e., data and size. Weird problem is just when using Poweriso.

    Frankly this "issue" is not of any concern for me. I was just trying to figure out what was going on with Poweriso L0L.

    I'm making a lil video so you can watch what I'm actually saying...

    Here it is. I used 7zip too as recommended by Flipp3r:

    @ Mr.X dism extracts ok so obviously problem is with Poweriso and 7zip, personally I have never used such programs to extract wim files. Do they extract or show correct file sizes normal boot.wim file not custom.

    @urie

    Yes I know dism does the job pretty good, so does 7zip. The point here is why Poweriso is doing that, again only with files added by me not for original ones. Weird.
    Well, no real biggie after all. Just curiosity. :cool:

    Hmm, I noticed when you opened it with 7z that you have index 1 & 2 but also a [deleted] folder. Maybe you need to optimize the wim (confusing poweriso??)??
    What about UltraISO? I use that at work without issue (although I don't think I've opened wims with it)...

    I was thinking same some hours ago. I believe you are right and need to optimize that wim.
    Nope. It doesn't support this format.
    Poweriso is not mandatory for me at all, it just crossed my mind when I wanted to see the files within the wim. 7zip is good I know. But for servicing I'd go for dism.

    Optimized. Results still are the same ones though. Definitely something's wrong with Poweriso.
