I heard that and I feel the exact same way! The sole reason we still have a Windows computer at all is because of my wife's dang expensive embroidery software ... Floriani. But that machine (actually a desktop and a laptop) does not need to be connected to the internet. Other than that one product, we've gone Mac El Capitan and Linux Mint 17.3. And if and when Floriani comes out with a program for either Mac or Linux, the Windows computers will be gone.
I guess that the only problem I see on Windows 10 is the forced updates. Heck!!! Even drivers updates are forced and there is no way to turn it off.. If Microsoft, only, add an option so we can check to automatic update only security kbs... That would be great.. Until then, Windows 7 for gaming and Linux Mint for everything else, until MESA/AMD open drivers becomes really close to the catalyst crap.. That will be a windows goodbye..
For me i'll tell you to go with Windows 10. So far so good. I've been using it since the first beta version, and for me, it is the best Windows so far. Lievre
It's never going to be perfect, You pay MS, You pay the Antivirus and other companies to make Winders palatable, that's life, get your wallet out if you want to get close to perfection
