Seems the Preview was indeed intended to be Win 8.1 Update 2 for a while. So far it took Professional (VM) and ProfessionalWMC (Main PC) Retail Keys and activated online.
Floppy Support has indeed been TOTALY removed.. Did some testng this afternoon using a USB Floppy drive that works prefectly with Win7. Of course 10 just lists it as a "unknon device". So I tried to install the driver I have from a Win 7 installed on a different partition. Win10 actually found the driver and reported that it was a Teach USB Floppy , but "could not install". I wonder what MS's logic is for removing support other than the crazy "No one ues Floppies these days" , which is not true , as there must be many 10000's of users that still have the odd document or photo on a legacy floppy disk.. What are you supposed to do if you want to access these , install a decent OS like Win 7?
Laughing so hard That's funny still wanting floppy support should I ask if the can support the punch cards I have to my old IBM ACORN
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{914feed8-267a-4baa-b8aa-21e233792679}] @="Microsoft Preview Creator" "AppID"="{6d2b5079-2f0b-48dd-ab7f-97cec514d30b}" Not that anyone cares what i write about . On that floppy drivers missing, can you even stare people with a straight face and tell them damn, there goes all my work/photos because WinX doesn't support the ever so used daily device that is the floppy driver?
Well I guess the answer is that people dont still keep stuff on punch cards. The Flopy is one of the most stable mediums still around in many ways Hard drives crash , DVD's Rot. Depends how long you have been storing stuff I suppose , those that came into computing later on would not be intetested in Floppy support..
Spotted these , look like they were designed by a 8yo kid , why does MS always want to Dumb down their new os's
Code: {914feed8-267a-4baa-b8aa-21e233792679} Found in Windows Vista registry Registered class: Microsoft Preview Creator Inproc sever: C:\Windows\system32\shell32.dll (product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System, version 6.0.6000.16386) Does it do somethin new?
Ok i dont know maybe someone knows thats why i threw it out there along with 2 files that are on System32 called RestoreOptIn.exe and ReAgent.exe as for what i believe is an app used by MS to disable some features and adding feedback stuff. As for windows 10 being 8.1 update 2 it might just be that the start menu will also come to the 8.1.
Huih, hopefully not, have no need for what MS assumes to be a Start Menu, even compared to the medium Win 7 one it is crap .
Work Folders is in 8.1. So nothing new there folks. Seeing as 10 is probably going to be a free update at least for 8.1 users, at this point it makes no sense wasting resources to backport the Start Menu.
This is you thinking it is backporting instead of having a separate build in progress for Windows 8.1 Update 2 that is being used as a base for Windows 10 (also known as developing Start Menu for Windows 8.1 Update 2 and Copying/Upgrading it to Windows 10). If i am indeed right on my train of thought MS will release Win8.1 Update 2 Between Now and Mid-WinX Development.
