Dont like NSA/Microsoft Spying take out the tin foil hat from your drawer and don't install Windows 10 TECHNICAL PREVIEW just Wait UNTIL Windows 10 is OUT
its a beta/debugging os with lots of built in telemetery for ms to track bugs/crashes etc. don't use it if your paranoid imho.
Worth noting that it also uploads memory dumps, which might contain your sensitive data. But you can't blame developers for doing that. It's important for debugging purposes.
Why are hard drives auto set to turn off after 20 minutes under advanced power settings? Couldn't this be problematic for like seeding torrents/listening to music/watching stuff?
It's problematic for three different machines I know if I forget to disable it, as none of them will ever wake up again once the drives power down.
yeah, one of the first things I do is adjust power settings on any install. I should save a reg file some day with all that info. I still manually change each setting
Exactly what i do, it's fun although there is a more pro way Code: POWERCFG /EXPORT PowerScheme.pow 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c POWERCFG /IMPORT PowerScheme.pow 8c5e7fda represent the High performance profile
I'm seeing the same thing- sfc reports unrepairable error, but dism repair passes successfully. Weird. Not only Europeans- many here in America also don't trust American cloud.
You have no clue what you're talking about and should stay away from preview operating systems. Actually you should do the world a favor and just stay away from computers completely.
Yep, weird indeed, thanks for confirming it's not only me. Now i'm curious whether more users will face this ?
I'm not sure about "off". You can try "0" or maybe "9999999999" which may be the same thing as off. My instinct says there must be a value.
Without the boot.wim or (any) setup.exe in DVD:\sources i ... If i run x:\sources\setup.exe = error If i run renamed setup.exe ie: x:\sources\10x86.exe = error If i run (i think this is the command) x:\sources\10x86.exe /unattend:x:\autounattend.xml /installsourcevdDriveLetter:\sources\install.wim it worked. My autounattend.xml is normal with the regular WinPE pass. I did enter a win 10 pro product key in the xml. I haven't tested if renaming setup.exe is necessary. My problem is i use an autoit Gui to install things with variables, so for me to change some paths on the fly is a PITA. This is as far as my explorations have gone. I did not use a single hacked\modded file. I simply renamed setup.exe and ran it with the switches. Trust me, i'll find more about this. I'm going to day drink with a friend for a bit though edit: It installs fine. The only drawback i noticed is the DVD: \sources\$oem$ folder doesn't copy during install. I ran into this problem awhile ago, and the only keyword i remember is something to do with OEM installs and if they choose to use a certain .cmd in setup it won't copy so that their custom script runs instead. Also, this is run from an iso in Vmware 10 non EFI. I only noticed this trick because i have a failsafe where i automatically copy a renamed setup.exe to usb:\sources and i was expecting an error because this was an unwriteable cd.
