from what i've read the SSD drives have a finite lifetime, although the newer drives are more reliable. previous recommendations have been to have a smaller SSD drive as your OS drive ( less read writes ), and another larger drive as your data drive. i don't own one so i can't attest to the truth of this, but it does sound logical. look at the problems people are having with USB sticks. also if i recall they are working on a new drive which is better than SSD and is more reliable.
Windows always supported .mkv. just install KLite. no only kidding. i'm sure you meant natively supports.
To play a .mkv file on WMP you have to install codecs manually so in this build they integrated it by default that's what he is trying to say i guess
The new immersive (btw FU google, I know how to spell) control panel is shaping up to be their control panel replacement. They mentioned how wifi is harder to get at the controls, but this is a similar situation where they're moving functionality to this new app.
The SSD's are now living longer than an average HDD. I use a 250GB-SSD for my OS + Apps and a 500GB-SSD for my most important Games. My less important Games are on a Seagate Constellation (faster than a cheap HDD). Backup's + Collections are stored on external HDD's. ... back to the topic of this thread: - Media Streaming can't be turned on / something is still missing in that build It's the same for me (clean installed 9841 (completely plain installed) => upgraded to 9860.
@ KnowledgeableNewbie: Concerning SSDs the life time of an SSD is now longer than a HDD. This is known by the fact that the new Samsung 850 Pro Drives have a Warranty on them of 10 years. I just so happen to own of these drives as I splurged to get one that is a 512 GB drive. @cutee: I can't do anything with the docking connector either The only time the SSD thing rang true was with the first generation drives however we are well past this now
It worked the first day displaying empty window and started to close automatically the following day.
Be more specific please ... did you upgrade from default Technical Preview build 9841 to 9860 and then upgrade to ProfessionalWMC?
I have been experiencing WiFi connection tripping off many times after the latest Technical Preview 9860.
not sure if it's been reported, but the build download can be resumed. my connection got interrupted and got error blah blah blah, and i hit download now and it resumed where it left off. also some body mentioned earlier about the 2 drive listings in explorer. not a big deal, but here's the annoying part. drag a folder to copy into any of the lower drive letters and it won't copy. create the directory and then drag the individual files into that folder and they copy no problem. drag a folder into any of the ThisPC drives and no problem. bug or feature. u decide.
