I agree with you.. every time a new version of OS is released, whether linux, windows, android.. there are haters and lovers... some like the new interface, some don't.. some hate the developers for same old design, some don't.... guess you can't satisfy everyone...
The Whole flat interface can go to hell, its terrible, I hope we get back choices in final release to choose interface/theme style, here hoping for Windows 7/Vista and 8.1 themes
I would MUCH rather have the Vista icons than the ones in Win10TP!!!! *I think I'm going to go ahead and stick with WindowsXP......... Windows 10 :fuyou2:
I was just being sarcastic. However, I do have 2 PC running Win7 and prob wont upgrade them. One of them has never been updated, but I don't connect it to the internet and only use it for a HTPC.
The most important upgrade in Windows 10 is boot speed. My laptop boots Windows 10 just in 0,5-1 seconds(without bios boot logo), i can't even see windows boot logo (of course with ssd) Then, let's look at to Windows 7. Booting in Windows 7 is real pain. It can go up to 10 seconds. So, I will never use Windows 7 or 8.1(because of stupid UI which is mostly for devices with touchscreen) Just another annotation: Windows 10 is good at overall performance compared to Windows 7 and 8.1 . Read/Write speed is greatly enhanced on Windows10.
I don't really care if it takes my PC 1 second or 10 seconds to boot. All I care about is if it does the tasks that I want when it's running. Windows 7 and MPC-HC hooked up to my projector works perfect for me as a HTPC. I also use Debian, (not for long, I'll be switching to Devuan probably), which may take a few seconds longer to boot, but I think that there are more benifits to running a Linux system than simply worrying about boot times.
Speaking about new icons in Win10, I can say I like only folders. New folder icons look beautiful. But rest all are s**t. s**t.
All 4 of my PCs are daily use. 2 Windows 7 (1 HTPC, 1 Family Use), 1 Windows 10 (daily testing and is also Win7HTPC) and 1 Debian (daily driver). All of them are running all day.
I think that you guys might be mistaken, Windows 8/8.1 is the failed OS. The marketshare numbers prove that: Windows 7: 56.41% Windows 8: 6.55% Windows 8.1: 12.10%
7 has been out for a sh1t load longer than 8.1 and look at the OS before 7, of course people moved across faster than a laser beam - no immediate need to move from 7 to 8.x, doesn't make it a failure I agree 8 was pretty terrible, but 8.1 is fine, once you remove that Metro crap
I don't doubt that 8/8.1 was a great OS, 'under the hood'. But MSs problem was that it didn't fit in in the business environment. This is where I think that they are going to run into some trouble again with Windows 10. I tried 8 & 8.1 as they were released. I was turned off by 8 because of the lack of Start Menu, and 8.1 turned me off because it had too many hardware issues on multiple PCs and laptops by multiple manufacturers that I installed it on. Maybe they have fixed them by now, but I don't want to waste my time trying. Now Windows 10 is being tested by every ten year old with access to the internet, it is turning out to be Windows 8.2 with all the Metro/modern, tiles, charms, hamburgers, etc. I think that MS is shooting themselves in the foot by doing things this way. If they really want to make some real money they would break up this 'hybrid' OS into at least 3 (like I keep saying), desktop, hybrid (device) and mobile. And if they really felt adventurous a fanboy/enthusiast version.
i dont give a rats ass about market share considering how many people run pirated copy's and since windows 8.1 was 100x better then 7 could ever dream of being and faster. the only issue people had with 8.1 was the brainless morons hating on metro cause the lack of brain cells and willingness to learn anything new.
I love metro "theme" but UI was touchscreen adapted and completely useless for laptops and desktops. So, they will fix it with Windows 10...
metro was great for both touch and mouse and keyboard it takes one hell of a clueless blind man to say anything but and best part all my work got done faster and i never used touch at all i knew was how to use a mouse and learn new things
