Agreed, we expect that when we go online to browse or whatever, but I'm surprised to learn of this too! Ads in the modern apps! Whatever next, ads popping up off the taskbar! Disappointed to learn of this even though I never use those Metro Modern apps!
The modern UI should be a completely removable package, btw like the defender which is so damn annoying. Are ads displayed in paid apps too?
yes, the point is paying for an OS license and getting annoying third party ads is a shame and using a hosts redirect can be abused even. that's the point with "getting more secure than ever".
ads appearing in "Skype" could be disabled by changing hosts file. Goto Windows\System32\drivers\etc, edit file hosts, add 127.0.0.1 rad.msn.com 127.0.0.1 live.rads.msn.com 127.0.0.1 ads1.msn.com 127.0.0.1 static.2mdn.net 127.0.0.1 g.msn.com 127.0.0.1 a.ads2.msads.net 127.0.0.1 b.ads2.msads.net 127.0.0.1 ac3.msn.com Maybe the same trick will help here, too.
No need for me to block friend, irrelevant, as mentioned I don't use any of that stuff. Cheers though.
if we pay with personal data - where is it free? I don't upgrade this kind of "free", already a matter of fact for me. I'll buy an ad free version if required.
