In Windows 8/8.1 notifications in the top right were displayed only from Modern Apps, but other notifications were displayed at the bottom, in the notification area. In Windows 10 ALL notifications are displayed in the top right.
Edition "Windows Server vNext" During importing to WDS-Server {Windows Deployment Server], I found this:
They wrap the files up, this mean we wouldn't be able to create multilingual source since it's a special release type pack "OnDemand Pack", apparently it's installabe only through /Enable-Feature
Just in case, if any one is wondering what the heck there is no Log-Off or Sign-Out option for the Power Button on the Start Menu(I saw some people asking where is Log-Off or Sign-Out option in Windows Feedback), it is added(along with Lock) to the 'Username' on the Start Menu instead of Power Button. There isn't switch user option though(I couldn't find it yet), unless you do CTRL+ALT+DELETE. On other topic, I can't get the Charms bar working even in Start Screen mode, is MS completely disabled charms bar for non-touch devices?!.
Even Win+C will open the new charms menu when you're inside a metro app (it still works outside apps though)
Yes, understood about 8.1, but here in 10 Enterprise all notifications (including USB, I just tried it) are in the lower right (not talking in the tray). This is an upgrade of 8.1, so perhaps that's involved. But this is good news, I think, since it strongly implies that there's a setting somewhere (probably in the Regtistry) that lets you choose where notifications go.
This is what I have in The non-Enterprise by pressing Windows + C Key , click Settings and Change PC Settings below.
Yes, I mean which of the 4 quadrants of the screen it goes. There's no exposed setting for that. It's really interesting to me that no one else seems to have them on the lower right! Oh, I wonder if it's because I keep my taskbar on the right? But I did in Win 8.1 too.... And I don't know why it would have anything to do with notifications. Unfortunately, I'm not at the 10 machine now to try relocating my taskbar to the bottom.
Don't know if it has been reported before, but you can now create desktop shortcuts to Modern apps by dragging them out of the Start menu and onto the desktop
How to find out what items were added for Windows 10 in the Group Policy Editor: Run gpedit.msc Goto Action Click Filter Options Tick "Enable Requirements Filters" Click checkbox next to "Windows Next" items You will then have a list of items that were added AFTER Windows 8.1 EDIT: It often still shows old entries as I found out when relaunching it :/ Very buggy filtering mechanism in Win10
I think all noticed but maybe let's mention it: librarys aren't displayed by default anymore on the left. Did someone really get used to the feature?
No, SearchUI.exe is "Purple Finder" (Metro Bing Search actually), what is visible on taskbar even in W8-1-1 (under different EXE name) (when you search in Metro, not close the search, then Alt-Tab to desktop). It was put to Cortana, because it shares same libs. It is very same like Photo app is put to SkyDrive in W8-1-1. Search in W8-1-1 (together with PCSettings) are only two Metro apps, what are able to run with UAC disabled:
