Are we supposed to create the path ourselves after "\CurrentVersion"? I don't have the "\LOGONUI\BACKGROUND\OEMBackground" part.

Yes. But the Ribbon elements are smaller than the Command Bar buttons in Windows 7! And to create a new folder you only have to click/tap on "New Folder" right in the Command Bar. With the Ribbon you have to open the ribbon or switch to the "Home" tab, search and select "New Folder" under the "New" category. The target for the Tabs and for a lot of buttons are way smaller than now.

This doesn't make sense. There is no reason, no advantage for the Ribbon inside Explorer. It's too complex, the elements are smaller, the font needs to be smaller, it does take up too much space, for almost all scenarios it does take more steps and the Ribbon we have seen shows unimportant or even useless features (for example: image rotation and column width should be done automatically in 2012). The Ribbon is not so much context aware: There can only be other Tabs for specific file types but the default Tabs can't change the content, thats why you have grayed-out "Print" button even if you selected an mp3 file(!). They already solved all this problems with the context sensitive Command Bar in Vista.

One or two useful buttons though could easily fit in the current design inside the "Organize" menu. If they would just kill the classic menu and enable keyboard support for an improved Command Bar with a single "Organize" menu that has buttons like the single menu used in Google Chrome, they could focus on real problems on the current Windows version: Like thousands of small and separated dialog boxes of most control panel items, too many scroll bars, not re-sizable windows, single tab windows, messy admin tools and this stuff that makes Windows 7 still feel old if you take a deeper look.

But these are just my two cents. ;)

It's just not compatible, guess it changes the logon background differently than the one MrG posted. That one works great.

I think you guys are misunderstanding each other. MrG, I believe that alex meant the other one that I mentioned doesn't work.

Go here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{9f2b0085-9218-42a1-88b0-9f0e65851666} and look: the only key has like value "Windows 8 SmartScreen Task Handler" :)
