That REG has been tested on two Windows 8 installations so it *should* work but if it doesn't on others I'll have to take a look at it again.
Doesn't work here too, someone must find a way to make taskmgr.exe always run in Admin mode or patch TaskUI.exe.
advanced permissions / ownership , type the full username of NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller that won't help, because the permissions are unique to each PC, by user and Machine SIDs binding. If a file leaves the PC, it will ship with Everyone:f ACL, then when it arrives onto the target PC, it inherits the ACLs from the tharget PC.
Has it been mentioned that it is EFI-mode installable, which wasn't an option for x86 platforms after Vista Beta 2 ?
I saw many efi related boot files on my x86 installation, which not presenting in my Win7 installation, but I dont have any hardware to test it so I am not sure.
Portable Workspace is nice, installed 7850 to my external USB HDD, not too shabby 4.2 rating. Now I re-imaged my laptop back to 7SP1 and I just fire up the external if I wanna tinker with Win8.
Seems exactly the same, at least in this build it is. I could see that changing though. It's not like it's a copy or subset of your desktop, instead it leaves you with an OOBE on first boot with no advanced install options. After that it's just like a regular Win 8 install, just that it's over USB.
I wonder if you will need to reactivate if you plug it into another PC with a totally different configuration (activated with KMS). Can anyone test this for me?
Greater than 16GB, and not a exactly 16GB 'cause that actually formats to 14.9GB. I haven't applied any of these tweaks to my Portable Workspace yet, did anybody make a .reg tweak with everything in it yet?
Exactly what I am thinking. How come Paul Thurrott, Rafael Rivera, and Long Zheng are not getting their asses kicked for leaking out screen shots? In fact, Paul is even writing a book about it. Can anyone do a hash comparison for the same build released to two or more different testers. That will be the easiest way to know if the release builds have any tracking information in them.
