I'm using Chromium on the netbook and it's nice. Regarding Quantum, I'm glad that the distribution I use uses ESR (Debian). I dislike Quantum as it tries to compete with Chromium and Edge by stripping out all customisation... It seems Firefox is not the innovator, it's the shadow.
I really want to like this new FF but for me its so slow, it virtually grinds to a halt from time to time, so frustrating after all the hype. My wife runs Chrome on my PC, I am starting to use that when FF is on a go slow.
Private browsing mode in Quantum is very good already. If you add good add ons like ublock origin, adguard, disconnect & a popup blocker then you are secure. Well until you visit ware/crack software websites, porno & hacking places.
Please explain how these gadgets do something more secure. Or if you can, it would be good if you explain how they do it, how they work at all. I'm very interested about it, specially how they make something more secure.
Of course not. There is only one thing that protects you and makes things safer. That's that, what's between your two ears. And if there is empty space, ie is nothing, you will not be protected by any other widget.
They block the basic tracking options, social media tracks & many of the scripts like cryptominers. So I'm not leaving my social media account connections everywhere. For a novice user its possibly enough, particularly if a good security software is in place already. I mean for a novice user, someone won't have all sorts virus or malwares targeted at himself. Maybe like 4-5 times in average all through entire life. But the same user can be targeted to hack links of his social media or card credentials many times. Security is mostly general awareness so if I don't go to malware source or invite it by clicking on every link, then chances are that I'm on safer side.
Lol some funny guys, called Quantum a virus that Hackers have injected into Firefox Servers to thinks its the original Firefox version? LOL stupid chrome-fanboys.. everywhere everyone that uses chrome want to discuss Firefox they have posted mis-information on original Firefox Forums on Facebook, Twitter..
Firefox is all over the place at the moment, one update after another, you would think it was a MS product, Its still Beta in all but name.
all i know is that i refuse to use ff quantum; i am using ff light instead, and now it is refusing to install ad-ons, because light is òbsolete`.. nothing essential, i only use badger, ghostery, and noscript ,but irritating nonetheless.you want to try some things out, in case somebody invents the privacy wheel.WITHOUT the need to install a resource-hog.
Try ESR, m8! I have a dozen addons, plus more stuff on it and only 1 did not work due to it being 52.5!
Remind me.... How long will that ESR be available? And what are you planning after that not so far away day?
It seems it will run for a while longer. Hopefully it will be enough for the maturing of the new version and porting of the addons...
