Yes.... and? A 4TB disk is cheap.... atleast if you look at the time spent on taking/making pictures and videos.... so Backupspace should no longer a problem.... Its more the hassle to do it... but that will be forgotten when you realy need it Backup what you made of documents/stuff, of configfiles and licenses, of hard to find installers/drivers, my music/audiobooks... Skipp porn and "i might see this movieagain.... somtimes" In that case a 4TB drive should be plenty of space.... Get a second dirve and make a *offline*copy* of the backupdisk... Normal practise if you ask any techie Me, i got multiple versions copy's of my data/profile on more then one disks/computers/netdrives. Got a full image from my latest clean baseinstall+tools systemdrive just in case i need to get back to working system quickly. The backup you need... it the one you never took your time to do.... 'Spelling and syntax is optional...'
Some computers/laptops cost less than 4TB drive itself. I do not have any spare one either, so I had to use TeamViewer to transfer 250GB from one PC to another, both sitting next to each other.
Since there is no fix/restore (files are removed in Windows.old as well), MS is suggesting to call MS Support, where they can scream at Indian guy, until they calm down and eventually hang up.
Dono where in the world you are located.... Hmmm $150US cant get you mutch in the way of computer/laptop unless its used/stolen... Ok, Raspberry and the like...and even them get ethernet/wifi and samba/nfs/ftp/anything else then TeamViewer...... If you do some searching there will be a better solutiion... what kind of conection do you have between the two boxes? WiFi, ethernet? What os are you using on the two boxes? Unless we are talking somting from back in the stoneage..... you should atleast have ethernet and most os's have some kind of fileshearing.... TeamViewer???? ... nevermind.... Do some reasearch, learn to user the hardware/software you got there.... Got an 10 year old box here with linux running as a backup... Its not fast... but it works fine.... 2TB 2.5inch sata hhd + usb divecabinet.... sub $100USD...plug in, start filecopy... goto bed if its slow... next day its done and you got a backup... 250GB is not mutch data today.....even for 5+ year old pc's
Exactly how I felt for several years with a phone that ran Windows knowing that all the developers working on that probably used iPhones or Androids.
If files disappear, you need to stop what you are doing and run some data recovery utility that allows undeletion of files. The longer you wait the more unrecoverable the files are.
JUst upgrade to latest windows 10.... then you wil not have that problem anymore.... there are no files to find
