    Hi
I'm trying to put in a slic 2.1 mod in myToshiba Satellite A100, posted in another thread on here, but when I use the WinPhlash to put the bios on, it (correctly) tells me the version I'm going to put on is the same as installed, and won't put it on. Anyone know how to force it to take the bios

    TIA

Yep, same thing happened to me on A135-S4487.
    This is what I did:
Downgraded bios to v.1.60 (which was the original), then flashed again with new one 1.90 (SLIC2.1 modded by 911medic) ....

I recommend using phlash16 in DOS mode rather than WinPlash

Hi, thanks for your reply. I can't go back to an earlier bios cos there isn't one. Where do I get phlash16 from? will this let me force it?

    Cheers

    I thought I couldn't go back either, I guess I was wrong :p
Just find old one (Google it if you have to) ....same way as I did and it worked.

    Hi, I renamed
using phlash16 doesn't work says file does not contain required module, ( I renamed S10GM600.ROM rom.wph) I have done a search for an older bios, but still no luck. Is there anyway I can fool it or edit the WfS10.vbs to change the switches on the winflash command?

    Cheers

I think the best thing you can do, ask Yen (not online now) He is the Phoenix expert.

    Hi ,
On your advice I contacted Yen, and he told me how to bring up advanced options to force a flash. Thanks Yen, you are the man! I will try when I get home, but I can now see the advanced options , but don't want to flash it from work by remote desktop, as I'm sure a reboot will be required.

    This is what Yen said:-

    ***********************************************
Edit the PHLASH.INI of winphlash with notepad.

    [UI]
    advanced=1

If this section not exists, just write it.
press now enabled advanced option button, untick:

-flash only if bios version is different
-flash only if bios version is newer than system
    -verify bios checksum
    -verify bios part number

    tick
    -verify block after programming.

    ******************************************************

Hope this may help others searching for it!
