I understand the Windows Update thing, as this is Microsoft's control to just reboot your computer with you ONLY having control when, even if you forget and lose data. I set mine to Notify me of a update but, NOT download AND DO NOT install, so when updates are available, I will see a notifcation, and when I AM ready, I can install them. I have lost data 3 times because of auto-reboots and enough is enough. Stripping Windows features down, I guess at this point I dont understand. To each their own but, right now, as it's still new, I want to see what Microsoft is TRYING to do with the OS....and killing games is a bad thing as streaming from my Xbox one actually works really well. Why not just manually stop and disable Windows Update services and BITS? With that 2 off the whole automatic update will not function even in Home edition.

Also, when I mentioned earlier,I didn't think it'd be for such a gripping drama @Carol - I think the gist of what Mr.Magic was trying to do was to essentially tell you to actually use the "miracle" fixes for several days before posting them,as you tend to how to put it politely - click first, consider consequences later (when it's too bloody late) ... That way when things inevitably go sideways, you won't be dragging impressionable newbies with you down that particular rabbit hole.
