I doubt that this is the "best known program" to create PDF files - it has a reputation of introducing unwanted adware and having browser hijacker traits. Do a search first, looking for "PDFCreator malware" etc. before you install this. There are so many totally free PDF printers/creators that it is better to avoid this one...

 

I have used this for years - it can replace the horrible default Windows notepad, is super-fast to load, and can be tweaked to color the syntaxes of any text-base file you want.

 

I found the "save as pdf" function in the Opera browser makes a very good PDF. Very authentic to the original web page.

May be Vmware authors found that people using serial keys. They let it free for personal use
