I want to do a full format prior to doing a fresh install of vista. The option for formatting when installing vista, is only a quick format. How safe would it be for me to delete the partition then create a new partition before install. This gives you the option to first delete the partition. But how safe is it to do so??? I dont want to risk screwing up my pc to such an extent that I cannot put it right. Thanks in advance guys, I know I have come to the right place for the right answer.
A windows "format" does nothing more than make space available (simplify)..You should delete the partition before formatting. That is as close to a "reformat" as you will get with windows.. Delete the partition, create a new partition, and format. You will not screw up the pc past needing a reinstall of whatever OS you choose to install
Thanks 911medic. I installed vista on a friends comp but did a format via the advance options. I wasnt going to delete the partition on her pc just in case but now you have come to my aid, I am going to do it on my own pc. I will reload vista but delete the partition rather than format it. Thanks 911medic. As ever, this is the best forum.
