I I picked up a used Gateway GT5628, with the intention of using the Quad Core CPU in another motherboard. I replaced the Q6600 Quad Core CPU in the GT5628 with a Core 2 Duo 3.2 GHz CPU, reset the BIOS with the reset jumper and now it will not POST.

The fans come on at high speed, but the screen remains black. The BIOS is version DPP3510J.15A.0261.2007.0723.2348 , which I think is the initial version.
    Please help!

Try putting the old processor back in and see if it posts. Chances are that motherboard just dont support the core 2 duo chip. Could be a bus speed error. I had a hp workstation. Came with a 3.2 with ht technology. I put that chip in another board and pulled the standard single core 2.8 that was in the new board and put the 2.8 in the hp. Didnt post at all. Got error beeps when i checked on the web it was a processor error. The chip wasnt supported with the board.
