Hi guys. Could someone PM me a key please? I've been trying all day long without any success. I've got Enterprise version without Hyper-V. Will it work? Thank you!
It seems the keys given out at the moment only work for Server Standard, I tried various ways of activating an Enterprise version with those and never succeeded. I think, but am not sure and haven't tried, they are only for the version WITH Hyper-V. PM'ed you a key nonetheless.
Got the key. Thank you! You're a real life-saver. I haven't tried the key yet so I really can't tell if it works without Hyper-V and the sad fact is that my server is already live and it is near to impossible to reinstall it I'm gonna try the key on a VM and see what happens. Thanks a lot man. You've really helped me out. Edit: If I were to install Hyper-V seperatelly, would the key work?
Too bad, afaik downgrading to Standard from an Enterprise install is not possible without reinstalling. About trying the key on a VM: Some said the old MAK Keys given out only had one activation. These retail keys given out now should have five, but you never know, better not waste it in a VM. About seperately installing Hyper-V: I have no idea, but the key most likely won't work on Enterprise anyway, at least none of the ones given out the last days did for me.
please give me a key Could some one give me a key please. In my country the activation by the phone is not available. Please PM me, thanks a lot.
Does anyone know, if a Server 2008 Standard Key can be used with a Server 2008 R2 Standard? Or do I need a new key? Thx eandy
Havent really seen any 2008 R2 yet but Im pretty sure you will need a new key for R2. Server 2003/2003 R2 also did require new keys. So my take on an answer is yes! Sadly
Actually what you both think is totally not true. You can Activate Windows Server 2008 Enterprise and Standard as OEM versions with a modified bios with a SLIC v2.1 inserted and a Vista Certificate with a OEM SLP Product Key for Enterprise or Standard. And luckily this forum offers all of these and so, I have a fully activated Windows Server 2008 Enterprise OEM due to this forum
Thx, but the question was, if a genuine Server 2008 Key (which I have) can activate a Server 2008 R2. But I think, it is like OleBent said already... bye eandy
Works like a charm and without any use of proxy, I was allowed with my french ip to register and get everything. Got my key and was also be able to download the iso.
I can't get the username and passwords from the first page to work. How did you get the login part after picking china-cernet to work?
What do you think? Vista > Win 7 don't use the same key, Windows Server 2008 R2 is build on Win 7 kernel, so you can imagine what the answer will be
Yes, I am aware of those methods. I was referring to using the keys currently provided by Dreamspark without taking any additional measures.
i used a bunch of the usernames and passwords and none work. i used star08, and it says "system maintenance"
FYI To those wondering: Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2 Do take different keys, just like Server 2003 and Server 2003 R2 take different keys. Also: The user names on the first page in RED do not work. If the site does not work keep trying. I tried for months at a time and it didn't work then one day I tried and it worked.
