Get Free Server 2008 Key [This method is turned DEAD, CLOSED]

    Maybe i have a wrong version of the installation-disc.
    I will try to download the new Windows Server 2008 R2 ISO Image from MS and will try to activate it.

    I got one other question:
    With that keys you can get from this website, is that an permanent activation or is that only for a specified time?

    Hi all,

    I have read in the first post of this topic that these keys should work with the standard and enterprise edition from w2k8.

    So for a few minutes I installed a new fresh w2k8 sp1 and tried to activate this installation with one of these keys... But it does not work!

    I get the following error:
    The product key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows Server.
    You must either run Windows Server Setup or enter a Windows Server Enterpise product key.
    (if i run a new windows server setup and enter there the key directly it let me only choose the standard edition)

    Any ideas?

    Wrong. That was a mistake and it was fixed by microsoft.

    I activated Server 2k8 Enterprise with both keys I got ;)

    Maybe setup didn't accept my key, but after installation Windows did :D

    Read this topic, you'll understand probably... I'll try to explain one more time. Initially, in 2008, Dreamspark was giving out MAK keys. This type of keys can activate both Standard and Enterprise editions. In spring of 2009 they began to give out Retail keys for Standard edition only, and this type of keys cannot activate Enterprise. Hope this helps. Check your newly gotten key or key, that you got many months ago, with pidxchk for Server 2008. You'll see it's type.

    I was hoping to get some help from you if I may. I am trying to get a win server 2008 key from that site in the sticky. I get to the point where I have to enter a user id and PW at the authentication required pop up window appears. What do I need to put in for both USER ID and PW?

    I have tried the following:

    ID = star01@live.haust.edu.cn 3826ddec-b858-4a1f-9cd9-d9f93a0ba0a8

    PW = star01@live.haust.edu.cn 3826ddec-b858-4a1f-9cd9-d9f93a0ba0a8

    and

    ID = star01@live.haust.edu.cn

    PW = 3826ddec-b858-4a1f-9cd9-d9f93a0ba0a8

    and many different things to no avail. If you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it as I need a key.

    For me it works without Proxy. ;)

    Yes it does, I just get another key the other day (I was, however, disappointed it was just a Server 08 R1 key).

    R2 come in early september. I want to use 2008 R2 datacenter,
    But Key is only R2 standard?

    First off, just wanted to say thank you so much for this thread!

    This still works. You don't need a Chinese proxy to access it. It seems any IP in Asia works.

    I was able to download the actual apps with no problem, but I live in Asia so have access to Asian IPs directly.

    You have to download fast. The site blacklisted my IPs within 12 hours. I had to log in a couple times to download everything.

    A quick question. Has anyone tried the serial it gives on Windows server 2008 R2? Does it really not work? What about R2 foundation?
