I gave the free version a go a couple of months ago. I’m still using their service from time to time, mainly to bypass geolocation restrictions (live sports).
Never had a single problem. Speeds are great and the desktop client (Windows OS) is user-friendly.

I've been using Windscribe VPN Free just for everyday stuff on WIFI at school. For more sensitive internet work, double-hopping initially through Windscribe has worked well. Their windows and Linux apps have a clean interface and connecting initially through Switzerland or Germany, while never exactly speedy, has always been dependable.

I used to be a bit sceptical about Windscribe, but my opinion has changed alot more for the positive over the last year. Besides the fact that they have regular giveaways, and I am currently using one with 60GB data, Windscribe also supports many different devices, incl Linux, which I use regularly (CentOS).
Besides, and I quote "Windscribe is the only free VPN + Firewall that you can use on Linux"

Whizkidraj is fine I think, just busy with some necessary work commitments. Draw should be announced very soon. Some developers reply a day or 2 later after completion of giveaways so that is a factor too.
