No one calls it Global Warming any more, not since the 1980's, the media now refer to it as Climate Change because scientific studies showed the global average temperature was actually falling from the 1980's when the hype over the ozone layer was everywhere . Hence Global Warming became Climate Change. The term Climate Change is proof positive of the way the media and politicians manipulate the masses via double-speak. Of course the Climate Changes, it's generally called the seasons, consisting of Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter. Unfortunately the masses do not have the critical thinking or intelligence to research these things for themselves, there are plenty of studies regarding this, And we have to remember we only have Global records of temperature going back some 200 years, that's a miniscule amount in the timeline of the Planets existence.
It was 70f here about 7 months ago.... today it's 13f,..... damn that climate change! I can see why they stopped calling it "global warming" now

My onion: Climate change is a natural cycle that is being exponentially accelerated by human activity, and will not be stopped so long as there's money and votes on the side of global catastrophe. People in far off lands could have their houses swallowed up by rising sea levels but as long as the first world folk can look at it safely from the comfort of their facebook account, all those refugees will get are "thoughts and prayers".

The company’s Sky scenario was designed to imagine a world that complies with the goals of the Paris climate agreement, managing to hold the planet’s warming to “well below” a rise of 2 degrees Celsius, or 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit, above preindustrial levels. Shell has said that it supports the Paris agreement.
https://www.theguardian.com/environ...an-wellbeing-un-report-warns?CMP=share_btn_tw Land degradation threatens human wellbeing, major report warns More than 3.2bn people are already affected and the problem will worsen without rapid action, driving migration and conflict Land degradation is undermining the wellbeing of two-fifths of humanity, raising the risks of migration and conflict, according to the most comprehensive global assessment of the problem to date. The UN-backed report underscores the urgent need for consumers, companies and governments to rein in excessive consumption – particularly of beef – and for farmers to draw back from conversions of forests and wetlands, according to the authors. With more than 3.2 billion people affected, this is already one of the world’s biggest environmental problems and it will worsen without rapid remedial action, according to Robert Scholes, co-chair of the assessment by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). “As the land base decreases and populations rise, this problem will get greater and harder to solve,” he said. The IPBES study, launched in Medellín on Monday after approval by 129 national governments and three years of work by more than 100 scientists, aims to provide a global knowledge base about a threat that is less well-known than climate change and biodiversity loss, but closely connected to both and already having a major economic and social impact. The growing sense of alarm was apparent last year when scientists warned fertile soil was being lost at the rate of 24bn tonnes a year, largely due to unsustainable agricultural practices.
@gorski: Losing fertile soil is a serious problem. I remember reading somewhere that some grocery stores were experimenting with "on-demand" growing of vegetables. Google to the rescue https://www.fastcompany.com/3058155/at-this-supermarket-the-produce-section-grows-its-own-produce That's in Berlin. If we could do it here, we can offset the need for produce transportation and preservation processes. (Ethylene gas, for instance) Not to mention the assist in lowering our carbon footprint. If we can do it and keep Monsanto out of the loop, (I doubt it...) We could have a more plentiful, more reliable supply of fresh produce in the inner cities.
It is man made kz, it can be controlled but we aren't controlling. Instead of saving it, we are destroying our mother earth gradually.
Last night a city in northern Maine recorded the coldest temperature for that date in 100 years @mj Pot growers have been showing us how we could to grow fresh veggies for years ...T
hmmm rising sea levels the earth is getting warmer that makes sense . it also makes sense that the next ice age will put more ice up north and sea levels will lower its called a cycle , its what the earth does on its own with out help from man ! its been doing this for how long now ? who knows scientists are not sure so they give a best "guess" based on info they believe to be true , but then again they don't even agree with each other about the info being accurate !
Having worked in the scientific community, I know how cutthroat the "business" of academia is. One of the statements made by the client scientists in that video point out an important fact: a huge percentage of client scientists agree on a "narrow spectrum" of what has been said. Not the whole kettle of hogwash. Most of the crap being pushed on the general public is junk science, designed to scare the masses and get government research grants. And people need a cause to rally against. It's just the nature of humanity. Everybody has a little Don Quixote in them. Now don't get me wrong. We need a plastic that can provide biological safety as well as a short (3 to 5 years) of biodegrading rate. And we do need to stop filling our landfills with toxic junk and building apartment complexes on top of them. As much as everybody would like to see a world free of petrochemicals, that's simply not happening.
Yep, line 'em up - all those sold souls with no conscience are way more interesting than.... those who'd like to be adults and say something like "We may have something to do with all this..."
Something like fraud? ......You know those scientist that make up lies for more financial revenue https://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment...rst-scientific-scandal-of-our-generation.html
