Heh, if only this planet is at peace.... "Nature red in tooth and claw", remember? :)

But we could learn, we could change, we could improve, alas not in this context, it seems to me - at least not very quickly, that's for sure...

No that is how we have advanced!!

Boy sometimes you come up with some stupid statements!! And I get accused of wearing a tin foil hat:hummer:

No, just of not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, as can be seen quite nicely from the above "contribution"...:D:p

The catch is that throughout all that time CO2 ppm did not exceed 300. It's now more than 400.

It's not so much ignoring that fact but ignoring others. In this case, it's the effect of increased CO2 ppm given solar effects. More details in the NAS report mentioned earlier.

Governments don't earn more from increased taxation but from increased economic activity. That's why "money agendas" involve denying global warming, not the opposite.

Given that, the question isn't whether or not we want to halt economic activity. Rather, what happens if we don't, and how limits to growth will do that anyway.

    What about this: https://www.offgridenergyindependen...-device-makes-solar-power-and-cools-buildings

"Holes in the blanket Fan's cooling technology takes advantage of the fact that this thick atmospheric blanket essentially has holes in it that allow a particular wavelength of infrared light to pass directly into space. In previous work, Fan had developed materials that can convert heat radiating off a building into the particular infrared wavelength that can pass directly through the atmosphere. These materials release heat into space and could save energy that would have been needed to air-condition a building's interior. That same material is what Fan placed under the standard solar layer in his new device.

Zhen Chen, who led the experiments as a postdoctoral scholar in Fan's lab, said the researchers built a prototype about the diameter of a pie plate and mounted their device on the rooftop of a Stanford building. Then they compared the temperature of the ambient air on the rooftop with the temperatures of the top and bottom layers of the device. The top layer device was hotter than the rooftop air, which made sense because it was absorbing sunlight. But, as the researchers hoped, the bottom layer of the device was significant cooler than the air on the rooftop. "This shows that heat radiated up from the bottom, through the top layer and into space," said Chen, who is now a professor at the Southeast University of China."

When subsidies for clean energy and falling prices of eco energy generation are calculated in - no contest:

    https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1119903_wind-and-solar-cost-less-than-coal-for-power

"Producing renewable electricity is cheaper than running old coal plants, a new report from investment firm Lazard shows.

Lazard reports that new wind farms in the U.S. can produce power for $29 to $56 per megawatt-hour, compared to $27 to $45 for existing coal-fired powerplants, according to a report last week in the British Financial Times (subscription required.)

The overlapping numbers represent production without existing subsidies for renewable power generation, which can reduce costs for renewables by an additional $15 per megawatt-hour.

DON'T MISS: Report: Utility survey shows overwhelming support for renewable power

Along with lower prices for power generation from natural gas, the dropping prices for solar and wind put pressure on coal-powerplants, which have been on the decline since 2008. Coal produced more than half of the electricity in the United States in 2001 and dropped to about 30 percent of the nation's electricity in 2016.

The decline of coal—which effectively makes driving electric cars cleaner—looks set to continue indefinitely. Building any new coal facilities would cost even more than running existing ones, which are being undercut by cheap natural gas and now even by renewable energy sources, the Lazard report shows.

More electricity in the U.S. is now produced using natural gas, and wind and solar are on the rise. These renewable sources produced a negligible percentage of U.S. electricity in 2001 and now account for more than 7 percent."

    Kewl!

    https://www.offgridenergyindependence.com/articles/15851/solar-arrays-increase-plant-productivity

"Oregon State University scientists have found a resource to increase agricultural production on dry, unirrigated farmland—solar panels. For more information see the IDTechEx report on Energy Harvesting Microwatt to Megawatt 2019-2029. In a study published in the journal PLOS One, a research team in OSU's College of Agricultural Sciences found that grasses favored by sheep and cattle thrive in the shade of a solar array installed in a pasture on the OSU campus. The results of the OSU study indicate that locating solar panels on pasture or agricultural fields could increase crop yields, said corresponding author Chad Higgins, an associate professor in the Department of Biological and Ecological Engineering."

Leaders of the U.S. fossil fuel industry knew as early as 1954 that carbon dioxide pollution accumulating in the atmosphere posed a growing threat to life on Earth, but failed to warn the public. That’s according to new research published by Stanford historian Benjamin Franta in the journal Nature Climate Change. Franta found that in the 1950s the American Petroleum Institute commissioned a study by a Caltech scientist which concluded global CO2 levels had risen by 5 percent in a century. It’s the earliest known industry-funded research into climate change, and the findings led in part to a 1965 report by President Lyndon Johnson’s Science Advisory Committee on the threat posed by global warming. Speaking to members of an oil industry conference that year, Frank Ikard, then-president of the American Petroleum Institute, warned, “This report unquestionably will fan emotions, raise fears, and bring demand for action. The substance of the report is that there is still time to save the world’s peoples from the catastrophic consequence of pollution, but time is running out.” The American Petroleum Institute would instead go on to fund decades of climate change denial while fighting efforts to switch to renewable energy sources.

Yet another shining example of our beloved petrochemicals at work... towards our "advancement"...

Microplastic toxins leave shellfish at mercy of predators - research
Chemical cocktail suppresses periwinkles’ ability to avoid crabs and disrupts food chain

Toxins leaching from microplastics leave shellfish at the mercy of predators, research has found. The chemicals completely suppress the ability of the periwinkles to detect and avoid the crabs that eat them.

Microplastics plague the world’s rivers and oceans and absorb poisonous chemicals from the water. Previous work has shown mussels are harmed by these toxins when they eat microplastics, but the latest study is the first to show disruption of the relationship between predator and prey. This is likely to disrupt the entire food chain, researchers say.

Microplastics are known to be present in seafood, as well as tap water, honey and salt and probably many other foods. Humans are known to consume microplastics but the impact on health is as yet unknown.

ice age -thaw the cycle of life on the planet earth , at one time we didn't have ice on ether of the poles and there was more ocean then there is today and we cant stop this cycle of ice age thaw it will happen no mater what we do ! we will just have to adapt to survive, but we can make it a better place to live with less pollution and cleaner air and more biodegradable materials that wont destroy the environment .
