Sadly, many people are not as enlightened and they do throw their garbage everywhere!!! Start with cigarettes... The filters are plastic - not that many people (especially smokers) know this or care about it...

We are very far away from being in a rational relationship with Mother Earth... Like spoilt, self-centred brats, immature and egotistical to the bone...

We have out work cut out for us, if there is something healthy to be left to the coming generations...

    Prostitutes !?!

What's there that needs explaining ? A free change from gas to electricity on that scale is a drop in the ocean but oceans are made of lots of drops :) The technical claims are irelevant ......... electricity is better than gas .

They're big , expensive and the same as with electric cars ......... we shouldnt be trying to keep our wasting and dekadent habits = our consumption at the same levels ...... we should be trying to reduce it .

The best solution would be if we used clean green atomic energy ........... wich is the future and unavoidable .

He knows but wants to be flippant every now and then...

The issue is "how green/renewable are the sources of energy in any given country or state etc."?

For instance, Germany and USofA use a lot of coal etc. And nuclear is very dangerous in so many ways... Not to mention really expensive, its just people do not know that decomissioning is socialised, so that is just not calculated in, to spare us, poor sods, of thinking of their... ahem.... other uses.... i.e. military purpose.... But OK, it's black and white, is C-S says so....

Clear Route to All Land Vehicles Being Solar
    [IMG]
The good news keeps coming. The IDTechEx report, "Solar Vehicles 2021-2041" explains and forecasts. In October 2020, University of York in the UK, working with NOVA University Lisbon, increased the ability of solar panels to absorb light by a stunning 125% by 3D geometry like a square block maze. This increases diffraction rate meaning probability of light being absorbed. They promise lighter, thinner, cheaper, more flexible solar panels. Non-slip for walkways, plazas and driveways, will boost success of Platio of Hungary.

Dr. Christian Schuster from the University's Department of Physics, enthuses, "In principle, we could deploy ten times more solar power for the same amount of absorber material: ten times thinner solar cells could enable a rapid expansion of photovoltaics, increase solar electricity production, and greatly reduce our carbon footprint," (Journal Optica).

Progress with solar-powered and solar-assisted land vehicles is now so clear and compelling that it is certain that most land vehicles will incorporate this technology as an essential part of their battery electric powertrains.

Sono Motors and Lightyear cars where it is even possible to propel some entirely in this way if you are gentle. Lightyear One family car gets 750 km with half the battery.

This has led Hyundai to put a solar roof on its Sonata hybrid car procuring up to 10% of its power and soon solar on its battery electric cars. Land vehicles follow static solar with progress on many fronts. Agrivoltaics boosts rather than wrecks farming. Fraunhofer bifacial vertical panels work from both sides leaving ground open for agriculture. Soliculture translucent greenhouses make electricity while optimally filtering light for plant growth. Now translucent solar panels are promised on some Hyundai battery cars. Solar panels that open up when the vehicle stops have been demonstrated as has sun-tracking solar on vehicles. ARC solar car chargers and large area land solar track the sun in one direction, increasing electricity produced by 30%. You can buy "flowers" that open their petals then follow the sun on land like a sunflower. Expect that on some vehicles.

organic photovoltaic film on trucks to avoid the problem. Much solar uses infrared so that can even go on the underside of some vehicles travelling on hot roads as costs continue to plummet.

The efficiency improvement is going much further as vehicles mimic wristwatches and satellites using lll-V compounds making even more electricity. Indeed, Toyota is trialling triple junction lll-V flexible solar on a car that will generate one kilowatt. Make that 10kW on a truck. Delightfully, the advances can be used together for even more power such as 3D geometry, multi-technology film grabbing all frequencies, sun-tracking and expanding.

Bottom line is that robot shuttles, cars and smaller vehicles will easily become energy independent. Indeed a spin-off of Eindhoven University in the Netherlands is preparing a commercial energy-positive family car Stella Vie. Audi has joined as a partner. They even promise sensing robotics that takes it to the optimal part of a parking lot to charge.

    Solar Vehicles 2021-2041" explains.

    Questiion ........ are you a hippy ? :)

Nuclear energy is the cleanest , safest and renewable energy source we have at the moment ........ that can prioduce the electricity that we need in the quantitys we need at the time we need .

Wich is worse ? f**k-you-shima ...... or ...... the damage that inhumanity has done to the biosphere with fosil fuels ? Nuclear energy didnt sentance the inhuman race and the planet to death ........... capitalists with fosil fuels did it ?

AND :) .......... yes the nuclear power stations that we have are crap , dangerous , poluted and the only reason for their existance is to make atomic bombs ...... but ....... as we've already talked about ...... not all nuclear power stations make ( so much ? ) crap for bombs .......... some of them actualy use and reduce stockpiles of dangerous nuclear waste .......... wich we have to do and have no other way of doing .

Have you slept your beauty sleep over Chernobyl and all that?

    I repeat, this is

    1) dangerous, everywhere, regardless of the country,

    2) the most expensive energy we have, especially when storing the spent fuel is considered (all those are in dire state, as far as we can tell) and

    3) it's militarily used in a sociopathic manner.

But don't let that stop you in your black-white dogma and careful thinking....

Maybe "safer" (than the previous, current ones), which tells you that the previous ones were not "safe" as they claimed to be back then, just as they are doing the same BS story all over again right now...

Which tells you yet another story - that of our arrogance...

    It will be our downfall!!!

"They are not after me" - so no space for such a charge - but they are arrogant inasmuch as they claim they have it all under control, they know it all... And yet, we know they do NOT!!!

Phys.org: Study suggests great earthquakes cause of Arctic warming.
    https://phys.org/news/2020-12-great-earthquakes-arctic.html

"There is a clear correlation between the great earthquakes in the Aleutian Arc and the phases of climate warming. A mechanism exists for physically transmitting the stresses in the lithosphere at the appropriate velocities. And these added stresses are capable of destroying metastable gas hydrates and permafrost, releasing methane. Each of the three components in this scheme is logical and lends itself to mathematical and physical explanation. Importantly, it explains a known fact—the abrupt rise in temperature anomalies in the Arctic—which remained unaccounted for by the previous models," Lobkovsky commented.

This should help, if it turns out to be effective:

    https://www.offgridenergyindependen...-ocean-wave-energy-harvesting-for-blue-energy

The research team led by Prof. Zi Yunlong, Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at CUHK, has recently overcome the above technical limitations and developed a water-tube-based TENG (WT-TENG) for irregular and low-frequency environmental energy harvesting, such as water waves. They encapsulated water in a finger-sized tube (FEP). When water moves in the tube between regions of the two electrodes, triboelectrification happens and electric currents can be generated. Taking advantage of the flexibility of water, the WT-TENG can be operated in various modes, including rotation, swing, seesaw, and horizontal linear modes, to harvest energy from diverse mechanical movements in the environment, such as ocean waves, wind, body and vehicle movements. Due to the high contact intimacy of water and the tube surface, the output volumetric charge density of the WT-TENG is significantly enhanced, reaching 9 mC/m3 at a frequency as low as 0.25 Hz, which is beyond all previous reports.

Moreover, just like toy building bricks, multiple small WT-TENG units can be easily combined and integrated as one larger unit and realise multiplied electric outputs. Researchers designed two power generation units. One is a box with 34 WT-TENG units which was placed in the sea to collect ocean wave energy. Another one is a wristband composed of 10 WT-TENG units. A researcher put it on and kept swinging her arms for body motion energy harvesting. The peak power generations of the two tests were both enough to drive 150 LED light bulbs.

Prof. Zi Yunlong stated, "Previous designs of ocean energy harvesters have been equipped with electromagnetic-based generators which are large in size and heavy, and will only generate power if the frequency of ocean waves reaches a certain high level. Our latest research has overcome the technical hurdles and will promote the use of nanogenerators, especially in "blue energy" harvesting, offering a new direction for the development of renewable energy to achieve carbon neutrality."

    @ Climate cacktastrophy

My opinion ---- > We're looking at it wrong . The authoritys know whats happening and why . The question is why aren't they doing anything about it ? = Both george bushes were asked when they were in office in live tv interviews about the climate cacktastrophy . BOTH replyed exactly the same ........ ' We will not give up our strategic advantage ' ........ In another interview an american government official was asked and said ...... ' In the past when there has been problems humanity has a had a technological advance that saved us ' = Pray and kiss yer arse goodbye :) The governments of the world wont give up power . They wont share . The chinese , british , russian and american dictators arent into justice they're only interested in ...... just us . To the bitter end .

Fact nr. 1 = the biosphere is dieing and we only have a ' theoretical ' theoretical chance of survival ....... the pregnant question for the whole population of the world is ....... Who is responsible ? Who did it ? Who are the culprits ? Who profited from it ? Who did nothing to stop it ? ........ after being warned for about 200 years ? = Poly-trickers and their political partys ...... wether ' left ' or ' right ' = blind greed . the abuse of power and vested interests ....... that definately arent ours .

The simple answer ........ as voting has never freed us ........ is to stop voting ....... untill we can vote for / on issues and not for parasitic gangsters that decide for us . There are only two political systems = We decide or someone dictates .

Did you vote for the climate cacktastrophy ? For nuclear polution ? That the sea is poluted and theres hardly any fish left ? Plastic polution ? Pthalate polution ? That the small animals have mostly gone ? That the most insects have gone ? That the wild flowers have gone ? That the ice caps are melting ? ......... The honest answers is .......... YES ......... you voters voted for the massmurdering scum that are responsible for it .

These are man-made carcinogens and endocrine disruptors!!! Their power is immense and they were banned for a reason!!!!

And yet - these CORPORATE SOCIOPATHS have done all of this million times over and over and over again - for a quick buck!!!!

Just how IDIOTIC and utterly STUPID are so many of us?!? Whatever we are doing to Nature - we are doing it to ourselves and yet....

Climate crisis has shifted the Earth’s axis, study shows
Massive melting of glaciers has tilted the planet’s rotation, showing the impact of human activities

The massive melting of glaciers as a result of global heating has caused marked shifts in the Earth’s axis of rotation since the 1990s, research has shown. It demonstrates the profound impact humans are having on the planet, scientists said.

The planet’s geographic north and south poles are the point where its axis of rotation intersects the surface, but they are not fixed. Changes in how the Earth’s mass is distributed around the planet cause the axis, and therefore the poles, to move.

In the past, only natural factors such as ocean currents and the convection of hot rock in the deep Earth contributed to the drifting position of the poles. But the new research shows that since the 1990s, the loss of hundreds of billions of tonnes of ice a year into the oceans resulting from the climate crisis has caused the poles to move in new directions.

The scientists found the direction of polar drift shifted from southward to eastward in 1995 and that the average speed of drift from 1995 to 2020 was 17 times faster than from 1981 to 1995.
