You can make a very good comparison of humanity and it's urban sprawl to ants, like ants humans continue to populate with no regard for the environment, the more we populate the more precious resources we take up, the more urban sprawl happens, the more motor vehicles have to be driven, the more farming has to be done to feed this population and yes, the more garbage is generated that needs to be disposed of that we have no where to put right now as it is. This all contributes to greenhouse gases and global warming. Deforestation all over the world is happening at an alarming rate for lumber to create homes and the thousand other things we use trees for just for the out of control masses . Our rain forests are disappearing, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that our rain forests lend a hand in controlling the climate of our planet. Before 1900 the population stayed pretty constant but then in 1900 the world population climbed to 1.9 Million then exploded after that, today , 2022 world population is 7.999 Billion people. On average that is and additional 64 million people per year and the number keeps climbing with better medicine and technology. Humans are reproducing faster than society can sustain the population. Like ants, you can chase them all around the world and back but you will never eradicate them ..... Sooner or later humanity will be the cause of it's own undoing. Global warming ...... pffft, a good place to start in controlling it or reversing it would be population control and reduction.

I agree 110% , It is hard to post views and opinions or even try to have intelligent conversations here when Gorski has poisoned so many of the threads in the Serious Discussion forums, the man needs to grow up and understand his view is not the only view and if someone disagrees with him there is no reason for him to go on the attack.
Actually, gorski has contributed with some great links, sharing info and knowledge... Unlike the 2 of you, only opinions and all skewed towards fossil fuel and nukes...
But that is most related to capitalism! With this actual System so much garbage is produced. We get devices with a lifespan of 3-4 years and that produces that much garbage. We could produce devices and other stuff with much longer lifespan and much better quality materials. We are technical this advanced that we could produce such stuff! But the industry is bound to this capitalism system and wants/needs to make money all the time, so they produce fast, cheap and poor quality goods! People are kept stupid and they mostly don't think about that. We (the humanity) are technologically and scientifically nowadays this advanced, that we could change anything to a positive here on the planet. Resources would be enough, I'm 100% sure about that! I think, when the System change, the more the peoples mind change. Or the other side, the more the peoples mind change, the more the system will change! (And hopefully this happens soon enough) Capitalism in its current form borders on crime, well no it crosses the borders, especially (but not only) by big global players!
Btw. Is Global Warming man made or a natural cycle ? I'm undecided about that. On the one side, industrialization and breeding of humans and animals is massively poisoning our planet, on the other side our planet went through cold and warm periods all the time. It could be the one or the other. Fact for me is, it doesn't matter what it comes from. We (the humanity), have to or must stop to, poisoning this planet plus ourself and all other lifeforms on it! Money here, money there... How companies produce should change, the type of packaging, how buildings are built, the way we eat, the way we consume, the way we deal with resources and so on and so on...
we cant stop what the earth does itself (climate change) but we can cure pollution of the air and soil! get rid of plastic bottles do a better job with our waste water treatment plants ! build better dams with fish ladders we need the food and the clean electric power !
all that sounds good but what are you going to do about china ans india they are the biggest polluters on the planet.
you forget USA the customer who is to blame, more consume, more pollution (Start with aliX for example, lot of plastic junk for sale)
you cant tell China or india how to run their industry ! our pharmaceutical companies buys cheap medicine from them and sells it here for a high price and the electronics come from china because its cheaper to produce and sell a phone or tv from china ! how many people would rather buy something for a higher price to stop pollution in another country that doesnt care right now ! it takes a lot of people dying from pollution and disease caused by pollution to raise hell with manufacture's to change their methods of manufacturing to stop pollution. or the rest of the world could stop buying their products that would end the problem faster ! got a better solution ? what is it ?
