I am sure doing such a job is very sick. Depending on whom you are, it surely will affect you in all sorts of ways. Not sure whom would want a job like that. I always said that police probably have problems in this area. As police may be filming, or watching people in homes, or watching web sites, who knows how it affects them. I wouldn't want to do it, i wouldn't want to see all humans can do, sick. But i assume some like that and some will be ok with it and looking at it. It does sound like a really bad job to have, and especially the impact on your mind and thats only if your stable person. I totally agree whom ever does these sorts of jobs need to openly verbally talk about it, and not let it build up inside you. I am not sure how they rationalise what they are doing in there own mind, or how they disassociate with it all, but it cannot be easy for even the most stable of mind. Also remember that most people are not stable in there own mind, so how it would effect you, depends on who you are, and what darkside you have inside you. We all have a hidden darkside, something deep inside us. Even the nicest, purest people have hidden darkness inside them but it has never came to the surface. Also it shows how people do not think about this stuff and someone needs to do it. Sick
Better beware of what you wish for, methinx... When volunteering for Amnesty I learnt that in some jobs there one has to deal with such horrors (torture and so on) that one... Ach, never mind... I urge you to rethink very carefully, all joking put aside... Unless you have secret fantasies of which one should not even give an inkling to anyone, oneself included...
I think that job would have a toll on anyone given enough time and enough crap you have to look over.
Were we really that stupid? If you think Google is a not for profit organisation and satisfying our search habits for nothing then you are lost. It's not a viable business model to keep providing information for free, and to boot free video and music (god I hate youtube now with all the ads). Your personal habits are their goldmine. But you can let them have as much or as little information about you as you require if you are careful and respect some kind of privacy. Admittedly the ads will still be targeted on your IP, location and searches. But you can get around that too if you want to check they ain't bumping the price you on that holiday you've viewed 10+ times. Unfortunately my holiday was the same price even when I was on a VPN with no cookies. So it doesn't appear they have singled me out today, it's gone up for everyone I feel sorry for the guy who started the post though. I have a family member who was seconded to a child protection unit who himself had young daughters at the time. It changed him unbelievably and took a lot of strength for him to get through.
It's amazing the stuff we take for granted - and never think twice about the information we see and how it get on our screens without making us fall out of our chairs. I remember years ago when search engines were very crude and the stuff that popped up in your browser would make you hesitant to search a seemingly innocuous topic again.
