thnx for you tip, however I have some problems. My key is not accepted in English version. If i follow your steps, I can't rename or copy the sch folder (which I suppose should correspond to the Chinese language). I remove the read-only attribute but I still can't copy or modify this folder. any help please?
Yesterday, before I posted here, I tried the registry edit thing (change sch to en) in Safe Mode but as soon as I rebooted Kaspersky demanded a new key. I had to use Safe Mode because when I attempted it on a regular boot I couldn't change anything in the registry under Kaspersky at all...and I didn't know how to turn-off Self Defense since it's in Chinese. I may be wrong but I think this whole episode was a wasted effort. Just learn to live with a Chinese Kaspersky Kav 2010 version, which should provide excellent protection even with default settings.
Just install chinese version and then switch to english version by changing language. In kaspersky forum, it says its possible. "I recall that Russian version will switch to English with shift F-12 and back again with shift F-5. Try that with the Chinese version" People have confirmed that it works. Update here if it works or not.
I could not get any of the above solutions to work. What i did to change the language and keep a valid licence was to rename the folders en and sch in C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010\Skin\loc so that the contents of sch became en and en became sch. I also had to edit the files resource.loc and main.loc with the notepad so that : [Locale] Value=2052 instead of 1033 which is default in the original en files. I made the changes in safe mode as i couldn't turn off the self defense
work 100% UPDATE 2 – Changing Kaspersky Chinese version to English language: 1. Open Kaspersky > Settings > Options and unckeck ‘Enable Self Defense’ option. 2. Click Ok and then Exit Kaspersky. 3. Now open C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010\Skin\loc 4. There you’ll find two folders named ‘en’ and ’sch’. Just rename en to sch & sch to en and Restart. 5. That’s it! Now run kaspersky and it should be in English language. Note – You must apply this license key on chinese version and then change its language to English.
